The Medical Services Director will supervise and assume direct responsibility for the medical performance of all Medical Staff of the Escambia County Corrections Department. This position is responsible for providing pre-hospital care to Escambia County residents who are incarcerated in the Escambia County Jail. This position performs all duties which include advising, consulting, training, counseling, providing direct medical care and overseeing clinical providers and medical services, and appropriate quality assurance, including administrative and managerial functions. The Medical Services Director performs duties in diagnostic and treatment procedures.

This position ensures Escambia County Corrections Department responds to all healthcare needs of the incarcerated individuals.

Training and Experience:
Medicine Degree (M.D. or D.O.) required and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in an institutional healthcare setting
Must be from a broad-based medical specialty with demonstrated experience in pre-hospital care


Licenses and Certifications: 
Valid driver's license in state of residence

Current Florida Medical license (Unrestricted current medical license, certification or registration & must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.)

Current and shall remain board certified and eligible in one of the following specialties:

Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine

Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine

Family Practice by the American Board of Family Practice

Surgery by the American Board of Surgery

Be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida
Current CPR certification

Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
