Job Description

The Escrow Accountant will be responsible for managing and reconciling escrow accounts, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to clients and partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Escrow Account Management: Administer and maintain escrow accounts for real estate transactions, ensuring all funds are accurately and securely held in compliance with industry regulations.
  • Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile escrow accounts to ensure that all transactions are properly documented and balanced.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, reports, and documentation related to escrow account activity.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, real estate agents, title companies, and attorneys to address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide timely updates on escrow account status.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with local, state, and federal regulations governing escrow accounts and ensure compliance with all financial and legal requirements.
  • Disbursement Processing: Oversee the disbursement of funds from escrow accounts in accordance with the terms of real estate contracts, ensuring accurate and timely transfers.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records of all escrow account transactions, documents, and correspondence.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any disputes or discrepancies related to escrow accounts and funds, working collaboratively with involved parties to find equitable solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement internal controls and processes to safeguard escrow funds and maintain data accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in escrow accounting, real estate finance, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software and tools (e.g., escrow management software) is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SoftPro.
