Your Opportunity
Scion is seeking a talented ESG Sustainability Analyst, a key position aimed at integrating sustainability across our entire real estate portfolio. This role is crucial for advancing our commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, ensuring sustainable growth, and operational excellence.
The successful candidate will be an instrumental part of our Asset Management team and drive our sustainability initiatives, compliance, detailed reporting, and ensuring progress toward our long-term goals. The role requires an analytical thinker with a deep understanding of ESG reporting frameworks, regulatory requirements, and sustainability-focused technology and strategy.
This position will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Chicago, IL.

Your Responsibilities
Data Management and Analysis
- Utilize data aggregation platforms like Resource Advisor, ENERGY STAR, and Measurabl to collect, verify, and analyze energy consumption data across the real estate portfolio.
- Leverage consumption data to drive strategic decisions, develop accurate property-level utility budgets, and monitor progress against sustainability goals.
Sustainability Strategy and Reporting
- Develop, analyze, and execute ESG strategies focused on sustainability.
- Manage the compliance and reporting process for various ESG frameworks, including GRESB, ENERGY STAR, and SEC GHG reporting, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Create comprehensive ESG reports for stakeholders, utilizing frameworks and standards to transparently communicate our sustainability performance.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant environmental and sustainability regulations, staying informed of legislative changes and their implications for our operations.
Research and Innovation
- Stay abreast of emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and technologies, assessing their potential impact on the multifamily real estate sector.
- Champion innovative sustainability projects and practices to improve our ESG performance.
Investor Relations and Communication
- Develop presentation materials to articulate our ESG strategy, achievements, and future plans to investors and partners, highlighting the value of sustainability initiatives.
- Work closely with finance and investor relations teams to incorporate ESG insights into investment discussions and stakeholder communications.

What We Require
- Bachelorโs Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Real Estate, Finance, or other STEM field; with 2-5 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or related area.
- Proficiency in data aggregation and analysis, with experience using platforms like Resource Advisor, ENERGY STAR, and Measurabl.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRESB, ENERGY STAR), SEC GHG reporting, and experience with sustainability certifications (LEED, BREEAM).
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of developing effective presentation materials and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proven history of fostering sustainability practices and achieving compliance across a real estate portfolio.
Operational Details
- Job location is based at Scionโs Chicago corporate headquarters.
- Working hours consist of standard daytime business hours.
