ETL Engineer

Position Overview: 

Blue Orange is seeking an experienced Data Engineer ETL specialist, with HVR and/or Fivetran/HVR experience, to join our team to help build up our data engineering practice. Our engineers require a diverse skill set including system administration, DevOps, infrastructure automation, data modeling, and workflow orchestration. Blue Orange builds enterprise data platforms and systems for a variety of clients, so this candidate should have experience with supporting modern data technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience with multiple data engineering technologies across multiple clouds and deployment scenarios. In particular, we’re looking for someone with experience with FiveTran HVR, Snowflake, on-prem Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle, and additional data tools experience.

Responsibilities: 

• Work with data teams to help design, implement, and deploy high-performance HVR ETL replication pipelines from on-prem Microsoft SQL and Oracle sources into Snowflake.
• Scale HVR solutions to 160+ HVR ETL ingestion pipelines.
• Optimize and iteratively improve/accelerate HVR processes across the full landscape.
• Work with DevOps teams and processes to automate, integrate, and accelerate CDC.
• Work with Python other data orchestration and ETL tools.
• Apply engineering best practices and software development principles, including Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery/Deployment, Infrastructure as Code, automated pipeline validation, etc.
• Develop reusable, automated processes, and method, processes, and custom tools.
• Any other duties as directed by your direct manager.

Requirements: 

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience building and supporting data platforms and ETL processes.
• Experience replicating data from Microsoft SQL and Oracle sources into Snowflake.
• Experience working in Snowflake, and other cloud environments a plus.
• Experience with FiveTran HVR REST API, CLI a plus.
• Working command of HDR Location Groups, Channels, CDC, Capture and Integrate, HVA Agents, Hub architectures, logs, Routing, etc.
• Expert ETL SQL and Python experience, PyHdr a plus.
• Exposure to DBT, Prefect, and Airflow; Databricks and Spark a plus.
• Experience designing and building robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Advanced level Python, and Bash scripting a plus.
• Experience architecting and implementing HVR alternative solutions.
• Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Enjoys collaborating with other engineers on multiple teams and sharing solutions.
• Interacts with others using sound judgment, good humor, and consistent fairness in fast-paced environments.

Preferred qualifications:

• Hold certifications in Snowflake
• Exposure to working in DevOps-enabled env
• Pluses: Azure Data Fundamentals, Databricks, Spark, etc.

Salary: USD $7150 - $7900 (monthly salary range)
