Summary
Thanks to our continuous growth, we have an immediate opening for an ETL QA Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for validating data sources, extracting data applications of transformation logic and uploading data in target tables. You must have strong technical capabilities and good knowledge of the coding languages commonly used in ETL development, such as Java, SQL, and XML. Knowledge of dimensional modeling and data warehouse concepts, such as star schemas, snowflakes, dimensions, and facts is required. Extensive experience in solving complex technical problems and troubleshooting is a must. You will also be responsible for creating testing strategies, identify defects, and make sure that our software meets intended requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participating in the planning and implementation of software
- Identifying defects in software
- Creating testing strategies for software and extractions to ensure user satisfaction
- Writing test scripts to aid in the testing and delivery of software
- Collaborating with developers during the discovery of an issue or implementation of a feature
- Identifying defects in software
- Ensuring acceptance criteria is comprehensive for users
- Communicating defects, tracking your progress, and following through to resolution
- Creating and reviewing technical documentation before implementation
- Drafting informal release notes between teams
- Interfacing with support operations to identify production issues
- Automate first mentality to all testing tasks
- Work side-by-side with developers and functional testers to create automated test specifications from user stories/requirements
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- 2+ years or more of SQA experience with enterprise level applications
- Capability to quickly learn and assimilate new skills and technologies in a fast-paced atmosphere
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills
- Self-driven initiative to ask questions, learn, and identify resolutions
- Playing well with others in small, collaborative groups
- A never-ending drive to acquire new skills and concepts
- Effective time management in an agile work environment
- Ability to perform well under pressure and be resourceful in meeting internal and external deadlines
- A college degree, technical certification, or other equivalent experience
- Experience with the ETL data integration process that combines data from multiple data sources into a single consistent data store
- Experience and clear understanding of data warehouse and data mart testing methodologies
- Proficient knowledge of data models and entity relationship diagrams
- Experience in writing complex SQL queries as well as the ability to move data from one source to another
- Experience working with different data file formats such as JSON, XML, RDF, CSV, XLS, XLSX, TXT, PDF
- Experience in data analysis (including profiling, auditing, balancing, and reconciliation) in an information technology operating environment.
- Experience in tuning SQL queries, Stored Procedures, Views, and more for performance improvements on a database
- Experience with REST API Testing and working with tools like Postman or Insomnia to test APIs
- Reading code and writing automated test scripts in various languages (C# or Java as an example)
- Creating and executing automated test cases within the framework of a test plan
- Ability to write backend data driven test plans to support database data validations
- Good understanding of the defect management procedures and tools
- Strong organizational, stake holder management and communication skills - effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff
