Position Summary:
The Events Manager at LACI works with multiple stakeholders to plan and execute events hosted on site at the LA Kretz Innovation Campus, virtually, and off site at local partner venues. This position works with the Marketing & Communications (MarCom) team on event strategy, with program and content owners across all LACI pillars, and with all members of the Campus Management team on coordination and execution of events. In addition, the Events Manager collaborates with Campus Management on the marketing of activities and resources offered to campus members, bridging our team’s ability to provide excellent customer service
What You’ll Do:
- Event Management & Marketing: Work cross functionally with multiple teams to plan and execute industry-leading events from on-campus press conferences and fundraisers to fireside chats and webinars. Work with the MarCom, Campus Management and Client teams to enable promotion of events to their target audiences. Respond to inquiries for events and filming. Maintain communication with stakeholders throughout an event’s life cycle. Work will pillar leads and LACI subject matter experts to Propose speakers, panel moderators, talk topics, and vendors that align with LACI’s mission and offer an opportunity to showcase our partners, sponsors, and campus members.Â
- Event Execution: Develop quotes, scope of work, and preferred vendors list for all LACI-hosted events. Collaborate with clients and LACI’s Campus Management and Accounts Payable teams on fee negotiation, contract creation, and room set-up for events. Provide walk-thrus to clients in advance of their event to review A/V, set-up, and catering needs. Draft run-of-shows with LACI staff and orchestrate virtual speaker run-throughs. Coordinate with Campus Management prior to event and on day-of for installation, check-in, catering, room and service arrangements, A/V, and parking needs for events.
- Campus Activities & Resources: Support Campus Management team on the planning of campus events including holiday parties, wellness workshops, etc. and help determine what programming will resonate with current members, integrating feedback from member surveys. Update Eventbrite registration pages and website highlights to promote these events. Maintain an on-site experience strategy for tours and visitors that incorporates the latest messaging from La Kretz Innovation campus and LADWP partners.Â
- MarCom Team Project Management: Draft, create and send newsletters, event invitations and other collateral, in collaboration with the MarCom team. Support oversight of MarCom team’s project management software, and liaise with other teams across the organization to ensure smooth operations of project management software. Manage the annual calendar of events for all program teams, work with Pillar leads and other stakeholders across the organization to create a regular cadence of events.

Requirements:
Basically, we want to know you can get the job done. This means you have/are:
- 3-5 years of hands-on event management experience
- Experience as a project manager in a non-profit organization or marketing, communications or events agency.Â
- Results-oriented and organized, with an understanding of the necessary steps to achieve goals before deadline and within budget
- Working knowledge of virtual event-hosting platforms, such as Zoom Webinar, Remo and Hopin
- Solid understanding of marketing and event software, including Eventbrite, MailChimp, etc..Â
- Exceptional customer service skills; self-motivated and self-directed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including public speaking) and attention to detail
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- B.A. in Marketing, Communications or a related field
- Passion for sustainability and creating an inclusive green economyÂ
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM and a strong interest in keeping contact info accurate
- Knowledge of A/V set-up and event photography skills
Work Requirements
- Must work onsite from LA office two to three days/week or more depending on calendar of in-person events
Position Details:
This is a full-time position, starting immediately. LACI operates out of the La Kretz Innovation Campus, in the bustling Downtown LA Arts District. Since we are rapidly growing, you will be getting in on the ground floor at LACI, with the opportunity to evolve with us and shape your future here. Some travel may be required.
Salary Range: Manager Range $61-75k commensurate with experience, education, skills, etc and total compensation package including health benefits, 401k match, professional development, commuter benefits and more.
