Job Description

Caribou is a leading clinical-stage CRISPR genome-editing biopharmaceutical company founded by pioneers in this field. Leveraging our proprietary technologies, we are developing genome-edited, off-the-shelf immune cell therapies for the treatment of patients with devastating human diseases, including cancer. We believe that cell therapies are critical now and for the future of cancer therapeutics, and that advanced genome editing is necessary to develop sophisticated cell therapies to treat a variety of malignancies. We are developing a pipeline of wholly-owned, genome-edited, off-the-shelf CAR-T and CAR-NK cell therapy product candidates for a range of tumor types. Caribou’s headquarters are in Berkeley, California.

We are seeking an Executive Assistant to support and report to the company’s Chief Scientific Officer. The EA will act as a liaison for the CSO and the company, and must be able to take on multiple tasks simultaneously and use discretion and judgement to respond quickly to changing business needs. This role will be hybrid, with the expectation that the EA will be on-site for visitors, company events, and other requested meetings. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Executive support to the Chief Scientific Officer as well as supporting staff who report to the CSO
  • Extensive calendar and travel management; expense report preparation  
  • Anticipate executive needs while managing day-to-day workflow and prioritizing projects 
  • Interface with the executive team, consultants, scientific advisory board, and other key stakeholders 
  • General administrative and office support working closely with the leadership team, other employees, and external parties 
  • Provide backup support for other administrative staff during periods of overload  
  • Initial contact with outside inquiries, screening as appropriate 
  • Project management and follow up on specific projects as assigned 
  • Coordination between the company and outside parties 
  • Seek creative and cost-effective solutions in daily activities and projects 
  • Apply sound judgment to planning and time management on behalf of the CSO
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting C-suite executives in small- to mid-sized companies in the life sciences industry
  • Significant attention to detail 
  • Ability to proactively manage responsibilities 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, video conferencing systems, and purchasing and expense reporting systems 
  • Ability to plan and coordinate logistics for virtual or live advisory meetings and conferences 
  • Excellent comprehension and writing skills 
  • Capability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and be flexible with changing priorities 
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative with minimal supervision and execute a wide variety of tasks in a timely manner 
  • Ability to apply sound judgment with managing the CSO schedule
  • Collaborative approach to working with fellow assistants and other employees 
  • Experience maintaining strict confidentiality 
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written 
  • High level of poise and ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines efficiently with professionalism 
  • Flexibility and ability to rapidly adjust priorities  
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on evolving business needs and at times across both U.S.  and global Time Zones 
  • Experience managing electronic records 

Nice-to-haves: 

  • BA/BS or equivalent degree  
  • Experience with scientific and/or medical terminology 

Caribou compensation and benefits include: 

  • Comprehensive compensation package, which includes stock options and an employee stock purchase program for all employees 
  • Salary Range: $105,000 to $130,000 - This represents the present low and high end of the Company’s pay range for this position.  Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location, skill, experience, and performance.
