Job Description

Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced executive communications professional to join our team. The right person will bring strategic thinking, communications expertise, intellectual curiosity, energy and creativity to help our new chief marketing officer (CMO) find and authentically tell stories about Autodesk to customers, external influencers and employees through compelling speeches, presentations, meetings and written communications. Our ideal candidate should have experience working with marketing organizations or for a global technology company.
Responsibilities
- Think strategically to develop and execute an annual executive communications plan for our CMO in collaboration with other teams including employee communications, public relations, and social media
- Develop an internal communications strategy and create content to help inform the Worldwide Marketing (WWM) team, run by our CMO, and drive the message of the organization across the company
- Work directly with our CMO, their chief of staff and key subject matter experts to develop the narrative arcs for and create presentations and talks to be given to customers, shareholders, employees, and influencers. Develop ways to reuse this content by other leaders within WWM and in other parts of the company
- Deeply embed in the organization and participate in meetings as requested with CMO and WWM leadership, helping shape strategy, providing a point of view on what and how should be communicated, and debating that POV with direct staff
- Support the CMO's robust social media program by creating or editing social media posts; suggesting shares and existing content related to Autodesk's business; and proposing new ways to engage on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and other platforms
- Work across the executive communications team, employee communications, the WWM group, and with partners across the company on communications projects as needed in the best interests of the company and its employees
- Support teammates on high-priority communications projects related to other members of C-staff as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in executive communications, public relations, and/or employee communications
- Exceptional PowerPoint and/or Keynote skills; knowledge of Photoshop, HTML and SharePoint a plus
- Four-year college degree (BS or BA), preferably in English, communications or journalism; or equivalent work experience and excellent writing and communications skills
- Creative thinking, and the ability to brainstorm new communications strategies and approaches with the CMO
- Identify new opportunities and execute against them to help the CMO further the Autodesk brand
- Understanding of Autodesk's business, experience with cloud software companies, or familiarity with the industries Autodesk serves
- Excellent writer, with the skills to distill complex content into clear, concise, and engaging communications, and able to write with speed and accuracy
- Strategic and creative thinker comfortable debating and defending their ideas
- Strong storyteller with the ability to create compelling narratives in support of our business strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and executing communications strategies, plans, programs and events
- Strong presence and confidence which will help build high credibility with senior executives
- Ability to influence without authority, across functions, geographies and levels, and the ability to work with various departments and teams to drive alignment and collaboration
- Ability to be flexible, proactive, work under deadlines, and ensure quality and accuracy
- Focused and performance-driven
- Strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Occasional travel required
