About the role
StockX is seeking a talented and strategic Executive Creative Director to lead our growing in-house creative, brand voice, photography, and video team. You’ll lead the global creative direction—from initial concept through design, production, and delivery—of creative for all StockX marketing programs and initiatives, including seasonal campaigns, editorial creative, events, partnerships, cultural moments, performance, and social marketing. You’ll help shape the vision for how StockX elevates our presence in the current culture space, across customer touchpoints, and apply that vision to the execution of creative strategies for high-impact marketing programs and initiatives. You’ll collaborate with a wide ride of stakeholders, solving for business, customer, and stakeholder needs.
The ideal candidate is an experienced creative director with a strong art direction, campaign development, and strategic background who has a passion for and knowledge of current culture products like sneakers, streetwear, collectibles, and accessories. They’ll have extensive experience overseeing the brand messaging, vision, and visual identity of numerous marketing and campaign initiatives for top consumer-facing brands. They have a strong aesthetic sensibility and understanding of current design, technology, media, and other cultural trends in order to craft a strategy and vision that connects with StockX customers. They understand how to leverage a single creative idea across multiple marketing opportunities or touchpoints in an integrated manner that can drive material business results. They know how to translate a global creative vision to our international markets, in a way that allows for local flexibility and relevance. They are a seasoned manager of people, skilled at nurturing young talent and providing feedback and guidance to a wide range of creatives, from designers and art directors to copywriters and photographers (both full time and freelance) They still love (and are willing to) be hands on, with an entrepreneurial mindset. They believe in the value of efficient processes in powering great creative. They possess the ability to communicate a clear vision and strategy that inspires internal teams and results in work that is authentic, beautiful, and resonant with our customers.
What you will do
- Communicate a clear vision for strategic creative that is on-brand and results-driven
- Manage internal and external creative resources to ensure work achieves project goals, meets the highest quality standards, and is delivered on time and within budget
- Lead strategic and complex creative projects that present multidisciplinary challenges and span across multiple teams
- Provide both high-level direction and hands-on management to varying levels of creatives across a wide range of creative work
- Be a key voice in defining the evolving StockX brand and its application through creative direction, brand design, photography, and video
- Present concepts and creative work to stakeholders and internal customers, including senior leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across marketing to implement scalable processes for implementing the StockX brand identity across all customer touchpoints
- Establish processes and to maintain consistent brand standards across customer-facing brand creative
- Scope projects and forecast resourcing needs with key stakeholders to prioritize and maximize resources
- Identify opportunities to incorporate emerging branding trends and innovations into creative and campaign strategies
- Proactively work to solve problems on behalf of the team and seek out or provide clarification
- Mentor and develop in-house creative talent through design reviews, individual coaching, and ongoing learning opportunities
- Scale creative team and resources to meet the growing needs of the business
- This role may be remote or located in Detroit, MI.
About you
- A portfolio that demonstrates creative work that unifies strategy and execution across a range of channels, aesthetics, and project budgets
- Demonstrated experience in senior creative roles at a creative agency, editorial publication, retailer, and/or consumer brand. Some in-house experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading interdisciplinary teams through strategy and execution
- Experience leading global brand campaigns from concept to execution
- Understanding of digital content production, including familiarity with post-production retouching and editing
- Fluency with contemporary social media platforms, technologies, and trends
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Exceptional creative concepting and development skills
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
- A self-starter with the ability to navigate ambiguous situations and thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment
- Effective cross-team collaborator with the ability to work across multiple creative projects and meet aggressive deadlines
- The demonstrated ability to leverage performance metrics and customer insights and data to inform and defend strategic recommendations
- A team-oriented leader with the proven ability to mentor and develop creative talent
- Extensive professional experience for a retailer, editorial publication, or consumer brand
- Hands-on ownership of consumer branding and campaign work
- Expert knowledge of e-commerce and digital marketing best practices
- Extensive on- and off-figure photo art direction experience
- Experience producing content for onsite merchandising
- Photography and video production experience
- Intimate knowledge of influencer marketing trends and leading current culture influencers
