This position is part of Stanford Medicine's Integrated Strategic Plan and directly tied to a core strategic initiative regarding Justice and Equity. In June of 2020, leaders and advocates of diversity and inclusion at Stanford Medicine and beyond came together to create the inaugural Stanford Medicine Commission on Justice and Equity ("Commission"), representing an unprecedented effort to collectively dismantle systemic racism and discrimination at Stanford Medicine and in society at large. The Commission's recommendations provide a holistic and enterprise-wide approach to dismantle structural racism, advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, and address health disparities. To align, elevate, and unify the goals of the institution, the Commission adopted the term, Inclusion, Diversity, and Health Equity (IDHE) as the ultimate goal of its recommendations.

A Brief Overview
Champion the goal of fostering an inclusive and culturally competent work environment to better serve employees, patients and caregivers. Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement SHC's strategy for diversity, equity and inclusion. Through these collaborations, work to ensure that diversity strategies and metrics are in integrated throughout the organization to support Stanford Health Care's (SHC) mission, vision, and values.

What you will do
- Create and implement SHC's strategic diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) plan and roadmap with a focus on achieving measurable, sustainable results.
- Collaborate across Stanford Medicine to align on strategies as appropriate and drive throughout SHC.
- Lead, support and elevate the Employee Resource Groups, formalizing operating guidelines and structures to achieve desired growth and engagement in SHC patient care and organization growth imperatives.
- Serve as a key strategic business partner to provide thought leadership on diversity, inclusion and equity trends, innovation, best practices, and emerging issues and solutions to enable the organization to achieve measurable results.
- Establish, nurture, and manage relationships internally and externally to drive DEI initiatives.
- Collaborate across HR to ensure fair and equitable people practices and processes across the entire talent lifecycle and build inclusion capabilities across teammates. You will lead initiatives to build out our talent initiatives to further incorporate DEI and belonging best practices
- Drive the creation and maintenance of high-impact projects, programs and new ideas intended to attract and retain diverse employees.
- Lead the development and alignment of KPI's by being a data-informed partner to set goals with core business objectives. Work closely with analytics team to develop diversity and workforce dashboard to track on-going progress and inform opportunities.
- Develop and lead some programmatic work, such as manager enablement, leadership forums and DEI business reviews to drive leadership commitment, accountability and progress. Provide leadership coaching, when appropriate, to leaders via one-to-one and group interactions.
- Provide DEI training for employees to provide education, awareness and develop new behaviors to enhance success.
- Conduct outreach to and develop relationships with community organizations that serve diverse populations.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field Required
- Master's degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, including five (5) years of direct people leadership experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience managing diversity, inclusion and equity programs
- Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills to build trust, partner engagement, and change management.
- You are a great, experienced storyteller & spokesperson with strong critical-thinking skills combined with a propensity toward creativity.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to influence, and inspire.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and is driven to achieve results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Ability to take ideas and projects from inception to completion via detailed execution.
- Ability to lead, organize, and engage diverse groups of people to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes and priorities. to serve as a spokesperson for the institution when needed.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations as part of a crisis response team.
- Proven ability to think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative.
- Ability to discern industry trends and position organization programs to leverage those trends.
- Ability to manage occasional ambiguity and make well-reasoned decisions based on the best available information.
- Reputation as strong thought leader in diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in organizational development and employee engagement.
- Proficiency in leading change and establishing metrics based programs.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with business partners.
- Proficient at building and leading high performing teams.
- Strong budget management and business acumen skills.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $109.00 - $144.43 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
