PRIMARY PURPOSE:

It is the primary responsibility of the Executive Director of Sales to guide sales strategy to ensure effective and productive sales in meetings and conventions. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Oversee the assigned operational functions within the department consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department, the division, and the property
  • Oversee the convention booking process for the Group Sales team. This includes establishing sales territories/verticals and overseeing the booking process guidelines to ensure yearly group sales goals are established, met and exceeded.
  • Execute pre-qualification and rate negotiations, establish files, issue contracts, liaise with Hotel Operations, Accounting, and Guest Services Departments to ensure smooth processing of bookings and service delivery, and appropriate follow-up correspondence with clients.
  • Maintain frequent contact with established and prospective clients.
  • Coach, train and support all sales managers on group sales techniques and strategies consistent with the financial needs of the property.
  • Lead the group sales team in the proper evaluation of perspective business opportunities to ensure alignment with the hotel's group rooms budget and catering minimums.
  • Represent MGM Resorts and the Hotel at tradeshows, presentations, sales trips, etc.
  • Effectively develop and mentor supervisory staff and hourly employees to ensure departmental standards and goals are understood and met.
  • Implement direct mail/Email programs to improve room sales by targeting soft and off-peak periods.
  • Maintain communication within the department and between other departments by attending and conducting sales and staff meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience
