The Executive Director, Program Management will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Supply Chain, and assume responsibility for ensuring delivery of Supply Chain initiatives. This person will be expected to understand the critical business objectives, the accountable stakeholders within and outside of the department, and the operating model of the company. They must feel comfortable building relationships and negotiating with senior leaders, have the ability to hold others accountable for delivering complex project objectives, and structure coherent recommendations based upon this work and the synthesis of other stakeholders' insights. This person should be prepared to drive relentlessly at the challenges inherent in growing a business 400% in three years, and be motivated by the professional opportunities this environment creates.
The Supply Chain function is responsible for managing the manufacture and delivery of physical product to Amplify's customers. This includes inbound Supply Chain activities of demand planning, inventory planning, supply planning and manufacturing, outbound Supply Chain activities of order processing, distribution and transportation along with management of support processes and systems. The Executive Director of Program Management will work across these areas, not just to drive defined deliverables by holding project owners accountable, but to maximize the value of all department efforts even as strategic outcomes shift and new constraints emerge.
Responsibilities:
Team organization and performance:
  • Partner with the EVP of Supply Chain, and department directors to define and refine their quarterly and annual project and initiative goals, ensuring coherence and alignment across functions.
  • Ensure that department directors and project owners have simple and effective frameworks to document and report on their performance.
  • Establish KPIs at both the program- and initiative-level, delineating between measurements of progress and outcomes (both internally and externally in terms of the customer experience)
  • Proactively monitor KPI performance, intervening as necessary in the event of slippage.
  • Proactively identify cross-functional problems that risk derailing strategic outcomes. Coordinate the resolution of these problems within Supply Chain and with partnering departments.
  • When problems cannot be resolved with functional directors, thoroughly characterize problems and present possible solutions to EVP of Supply Chain and more senior executives.
  • Enable consistent reporting across project teams, holding team leaders accountable for delivery of target objectives.
  • Make connections and drive synergy across multiple projects, enabling management and prioritization of deliverables and risks in order to ensure overarching program delivery in alignment to overall company strategy.

Executive communication:
  • Partner with the SVP of Supply Chain Operations, SVP of Supply Chain and EVP of Supply Chain to design concise executive communication approaches for program, project, BAU and ad-hoc initiatives.
  • Implement the underlying analytical practices necessary to enable this communication, understanding and anticipating the concerns and priority outcomes of each audience.
  • Manage ad-hoc business analysis requests from the executive team, driving them into the initiative execution framework, propose approach for completion, and manage response against agreed timeline.

Analysis:
  • Understand the key data sets and workflows that represent the "engine" of supply chain functions. From customer PO to successful unboxing and use, become an expert in how our products interact with our systems and processes to generate available data for use in business analysis.
  • Propose approaches to analysis that increase performance understanding and illuminate the forces impeding department leaders and their staff.
  • Manage a small team of analysts, utilizing them for delegation, while developing their depth of knowledge and professional proficiencies in services of these goals. Take ownership of the accuracy and quality of their work.

Continuous improvement:
  • Partner with the SVP of Supply Chain Operations, SVP of Supply Chain and EVP of Supply Chain to identify better ways of working. The goal is to maximize the engagement and productivity of the team, reduce friction related to misalignment, and retain and develop talented staff.
  • Understand the chief responsibilities and competencies of leaders within the team in service of optimizing BAU practices and project based approaches.
  • Develop strong relationships within and outside of the department in service of better collaboration and accelerating change management when needed.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree
  • 8-10 years experience in program management, project management, process improvement, managing complex portfolios of projects
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a complex environment experiencing significant change
  • 5+ years experience in business operations, data analysis, and complex project facilitation
  • 5+ years experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices
  • 5+ years of experience leading others,managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • Proven leadership experience and in a solution-based environment
  • Demonstrated, high-level influencing skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma or similar methodology
  • Experience in Supply Chain or Content operations in publishing or related industries
  • Highly motivated, as well as the proven ability to create and develop a highly-motivated, success oriented team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in the field of education, school / district leadership, educational publishing / technology
  • Salesforce, NetSuite, and Google Suite, or similar experience

What we offer:
Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a lucrative 401(k) plan, incentive stock options, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross salary range for this role is $185,000 - $195,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
