This remote role is not tightly linked to a physical location and provides flexibility in where, when and how you accomplish your work.

Job Summary

The Experience Business Director is responsible for developing the sustainable commercial strategies, plans, and business models for our most significant experiences on a global basis. This role will partner closely with the global and regional Marketing teams to deliver large-scale events which drive desirability with new and existing customers but also deliver commercial value to the organization. Example events include the recently announced annual Harley-Davidson Homecoming celebration in Milwaukee, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, Daytona Bike Week in Florida and others.

This role will also be responsible for leadership and oversight of other commercially centric customer experiences such as rentals, tours and other riding experiences. The Experience Business Director will be a thought leader within the Experience & Membership Team.

This position balances strategic, high-level planning along with exceptional and rigorous commercially minded execution. We are looking for a strategic leader with an impressive track record of integrating commercial opportunities into experiences which add to customer value and brand perceptions. This role will partner closely with the global and regional marketing teams (and the wider organization as necessary) to implement and deliver the commercial strategies and plans.

The ideal candidate is a natural leader, who inspires and excites a cross-functional team of internal and external stakeholders. Experience in building strategy, business cases, and executional playbooks for large-scale, multi-year events is a must.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design and evolve the long-range vision and strategies for commercial opportunities at H-D's most significant customer experiences.
  • Develop the P&L and path to profit for the Company's most significant customer experiences, balancing the need to deliver brand enhancing consumer experiences while driving revenue and profit for the organization.
  • Identify relevant and image congruent strategic partners who can help amplify the event and deliver scale. Negotiate 'win-win' partnerships and sponsors.
  • Work cross-functionally with global marketing team and regional dealer network to create robust promotion plans, driving interest and participation leading up to the event.
  • Establish, lead and hold accountable an internal steering committee and manage the robust critical path.
  • Lead the commercial agreement and drive additional value in rentals, tours and other riding experiences.
Required
  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience. Minimum of 5 years of people management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building successful commercially focused large-scale, consumer event strategies and experiences.
  • Extensive experience creating robust event strategies that appeal to both current and future consumers.
  • Possesses a strong internal and external customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to build community and consumer engagement.
  • Possesses impeccable written and verbal communication skills, and can comfortably 'flex' approach based on audience.
  • Understands the enterprise value of consumer experiences and events and can clearly articulate this value / ROI to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong financial acumen, able to build a path to profit and long-term P&L.
  • Deep understanding of how to leverage talent and entertainment to enhance the consumer experience.
  • Demonstrated champion of change - ability to clearly articulate the vision and look of success, and get others onboard, excited and motived to deliver best-in-class experiences.
  • Positive, energetic and passionate people leader.
  • Effective leadership, collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills.
