The Experience Designer I, NXT (Nike Explore Team) Digital Product Creation explores new frontiers in digital product creation capabilities to deliver the world's most distinct, exciting, and innovative performance product for all athletes.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Designer who will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary group of designers, developers, product owners and partners-including Footwear and Apparel Innovation teams-from concept through completion of digital prototypes that impact the future of how Nike footwear and apparel is designed and made.

This role is responsible for contributing to the design and end-to-end UX process in an ambiguous and constantly evolving environment, with a focus on gathering directional insights from key partners and end users to advise the Innovation pipeline and influence Nike's digital transformation strategy.

This role contributes to the identification and strategy of new digital product creation opportunities and applies human-centered principles to the design, prototyping, and testing of experience concepts to demonstrate desirability, viability, and feasibility of software solutions in an agile development environment.

We're looking for a candidate who has a good foundation in user-centered design and an innovator approach to solve complex UI problems for emerging product creation capabilities, as well as the ability to effectively articulate and demonstrate new insights through persuasive communication and presentation. This role requires the ability to balance hands-on execution of work with strategic and critical thinking, operating at both the micro and macro levels to collaborate and influence across cross-functional teams.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience shipping features from concept through delivery in an agile development and who have proven track record to use a combination of strategic and hands-on design skills to translate insights into usable interface solutions.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
As a critical member of NXT Digital Product Creation, you'll be contributing to the overall strategy of the XD Studio and Digital Creation Capabilities teams while delivering UI solutions for a range of internal design and manufacturing tools and prototypes. Guided by our strategic priorities, you'll design and implement complex interface solutions and drive required research activities. You'll advocate the value of human-centered design, represent the team, be a domain expert, and foster positive relationships with our Innovation partners. You'll guide teams to lead with the voice of the athlete, always advocating for and anticipating the needs of our users.
Key responsibilities:

• Contribute to the experience strategy for various projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and prototype unique and powerful software solutions for internal innovation teams.
• Complete and own design deliverables, including conceptual models, user journeys/flows, wireframes, interaction designs, and prototypes.
• Leverage Nike's enterprise front-end design system when completing final designs and handling design assets while collaborating with partner teams on the development and implementation of new components.
• Uncover new business opportunities through user research and insights-gathering and synthesize insights to provide direction.
• Educate and encourage team members by communicating a user-centric vision for projects while involving them throughout the design process for project success.
• Collaborate with development and other Innovation teams, and work to streamline workflows and processes in an agile development environment for team success.
• Participate in cross functional team meetings, conduct collaborative workshops, craft, and make persuasive presentations to drive and inform product requirements.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
As the Experience Designer I for NXT Digital Product Creation, you'll be operating in the Advanced Innovation Collective at Nike where you'll work under the direction of the Experience Design Director and partner primarily with Footwear Innovation, Apparel Innovation, and Digital Creation Capabilities teams, as well as Global Technology. You'll work with program managers, developers, computational designers, footwear and apparel designers, hardware techs, material subject matter experts, product innovators, and strategists who are passionate about impacting the way Nike innovates on ground breaking products.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Must haves: years of experience, education, professional/functional credentials and certifications (for leveling), physical requirements (e.g., "ability to lift"), and any country-specific items required by local laws (check with your local legal partners)

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial, etc.) or equivalent combination of education, experience and training
• 3+ years of experience in digital product design or UX
• Experience designing with established front-end systems
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in an agile dev environment to inform product requirements, build user flows, wireframes, user interface solutions, and prototypes
• A solid understanding and demonstration of human-centered design principles
• A portfolio showing experience designing web and/or mobile applications

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in designing usable, web-based interfaces for complex internal systems
• Understanding of modern visual design and typography
• Effective leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
• Experience working in complex, multi-functional organizations
• Demonstrated ability to design and conduct research activities, as well as to synthesize data into actionable recommendations
• Ability to work in an independent fashion, solve problems, make decisions, and communicate effectively in difficult situations
• Proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Keynote
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and consistent track record of influencing product design strategy
