Experienced Associate, SALT SUT Summary:

Position Description

This role provides an opportunity to join a high-performing SALT practice of individuals within our Southeast Region and the ideal candidate will be integral to the growth and success of the SALT Practice.

Examples of candidate's responsibilities include:

• Provide excellent client service to multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advisory services, planning, technology, and controversies
• Ability to integrate with clients and the overall tax team to provide state tax consulting, including nexus studies, technical research, sales tax compliance, exposure quantification, voluntary disclosures, audit defense, reverse sales tax audits, ASC 450 reviews and other state tax consulting
• Developing an understanding of state and local tax regulations and accounting pronouncements
• Reviewing client's current tax processes to identify inefficiencies and provide enhancements to improve the clients' procedures and reduce tax exposure
• Working with the client's information technology personnel to obtain data of historical purchasing and sales to analyze for reporting requirements, audit procedures, and review for potential refund or credits
• Assisting the client with evaluating sales/use tax software systems that meet their compliance needs and support the implementation process
• Assist with the business development, management and delivery of SALT services, and provide assistance and oversight on large client project engagements
• Prepare technical memoranda, matrices and other client deliverables.
• Expected to recognize opportunities for providing additional services to clients, marketing technical specialty or expertise to clients.

Basic Qualifications:

• 90 credit hours completed
• Working towards B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from accredited university
• Accounting Major
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Travel to assigned client locations is required. Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations.
• A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred
