Experienced Software Engineer - Developer Efficiency

The Developer Efficiency team is responsible for the systems that drive reliable software delivery across the build test and deployment phases of the software development life cycle. Our goal is to make all Plaid engineers more productive via components we own within Plaid’s Internal Developer Platform: CI/CD Build Tools Self-serve Deployments Container Registry Developer Portal Service Catalog and Feature Flagging.

We also partner closely with adjacent teams such as Core Infrastructure Observability and Security with the goal of providing well-lit paths for common developer workflows to ensure best-practices for operational maturity are provided by default.

You will be the tech lead for the work-stream responsible for Continuous Deployments (CD) which is used by Plaid’s application engineering teams to deploy new changes to production every day.

You will:

- Discover prioritize and execute projects to improve the reliability of Plaid’s product offerings by extending the coverage of testing and canarying mechanisms we currently have in CD.

- Up-level the technical rigor of other engineers on the team and conduct thoughtful code reviews.

- Own SLO definition goal-setting and OKR planning.

- Improve the capabilities of our internal developer platform.

- Lead with operational maturity and an SRE-like focus on reliability and automation.

- Dive into any part of the entire Plaid codebase to inform technical decision making across teams and with engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

• Working on projects at the intersection of Reliability Engineering Velocity Security and AWS Cost Efficiency.

• Collaborating extensively with senior engineering leadership and across teams.

• Operating with autonomy while managing ambiguity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a proven track record of shipping successful projects.

• Experience with k8s and Continuous Deployment models.

• Past experience in a technical lead position within a Platform organization.

• Ability to advocate for a technical direction with strong decision making skills.

• Coding testing and system design skills.

• Customer-focus (for our internal engineers).

Target base Salary for this role is $182520- $297000 per year. Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered.
