This senior architect will be tasked with RPA reference architectures and strategy that support Discover business goals. At your core you are an architect that has demonstrated the engineering and architecture skills necessary to help drive the RPA program at Discover. You will be responsible for working with product owners, engineers and leadership to create a vision & roadmap for Discover’s RPA technology and capabilities. You must be a great communicator with ability to build consensus across numerous stakeholders.

As an enterprise architect, you’ll work to ensure architecture cohesiveness and drive alignment to both business and technology objectives for initiatives that span multiple product areas and/or LOBs. You’ll have a broad view of products, technologies, processes, and data and how they should work together to deliver business value. 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain the lifecycle of reference architectures within the RPA technology domain

  • Lead the RPA product family developing a vision and strategy to enable RPA delivery across the enterprise

  • Ensures that RPA reference architectures, processes, and policies align to business goals.

  • Technical consultant for large, strategic RPA efforts.

  • Creates and manages RPA current and target state architectures along with a product family capability to technology taxonomy.

  • Drives adoption of new architectures by working collaboratively with product owners, engineers, and value streams.

  • Collaborates with innovation domain to identify and deliver technology evaluations

  • Accountable for the overall technical architecture of the RPA product family ensuring operational excellence, security, performance efficiency, cost optimization, and reliability in all architectures.

  • Partners with RPA product owners to develop and ratify the RPA vision and roadmap.

  • Represents RPA architectures at all architecture and governance boards.

  • Works with the broader technology community and the Chief Product Family architect to ensure alignment with the respective technology roadmaps across the automation ecosystem.

  • Develops enterprise RPA coding standards

  • Collaborates with other automation architects and PO’s to create various RPA strategies

  • Provide leadership and help mentor PO’s, and create opportunities to highlight the team through external speaking engagements, blogs, etc

  • Partners with business and IT leadership along with product area architects regularly to understand key business initiatives to ensure product area target architectures are aligned with enterprise architecture and industry strategies

  • Provides insights and recommendations to Executive Committee on strategic architectural opportunities

  • Consult on candidate architectures produced by product areas. Assists and guides product areas through the governance process 

  • Leads and/or contributes to architectures that span across product areas and/or LOBs 

  • Ensures other Enterprise Architects, Domain Architects, and Infrastructure Architects are engaged and strategies are incorporated into target product area architectures 

  • Provides conduit for feedback loop between technology enablers (e.g., EAIS, Security, Data) and Value Streams 

  • Promotes consistent architecture practices across the architecture community. Stays current with industry architectures and best practices and influence enterprise technology strategy and initiatives 

Minimum Qualifications 

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you: 

  • Bachelors – Computer Science or related  

  • 10+ Years – Software Development, Software Engineering, Technical Architecture or Related  

  • Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of expert on the Dreyfus architecture scale 

Preferred Qualifications 

Bonus Points If You Have: 

  •  7+ years as an engineer or architect in the RPA domain.

  • 1+ years experience in other automation domains such as data and analytics, infrastructure, process automation, testing, and/or security

  • 1+ years experience with either AWS or GCP public cloud

  • A background in delivering automation architectures and/or solutions for the financial industry

  • Experience authoring clear, easy-to-read visualizations of process models using BPMN or other process mapping specifications

  • Experience architecting automations that protect sensitive resources and data, prevents shadow IT, complies with industry regulation and regional regulations, controls sprawl, meets SLA's, maximizes availability and minimizes recovery time, attributes cost accurately, reduces or eliminates wasteful spend, limits blast radius and implements a least privilege approach.

  • Strong experience with one or many of the following UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, Catalytic, NICE, MS Power Automate platform

  • An ideal candidate will have exposure to one or many of the following: Aiwozo, Appian, AutomationEdge, Datamatics, Helpsystems, Jacada, Jiffy.ai, Kryon, Laiye, Servicetrace, Workfusion, ElectroNeek, Nintex, Perpetuuiti, or Qruize.

  • Experience architecting extensions, integrations, and automation facades in any of the above listed platforms.

  • Experience architecting RPA observability to evaluate cycle times, increase speed of delivery, evaluate automation efficiency, reduce operational spend.

  • Experience with end user automations and integrations technologies such as Power Automate, MuleSoft, Zapier or similar

  • Understanding of RPA financials, reporting, optimizations

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
