Mahaska is accepting applications for an EXPRESS TRAINING MANAGER based out of our Oskaloosa, IA location.

Primary duties include:

  • Responsible for training route salespeople
  • Filling in the event of vacations, illnesses, or other absences. Fill in for Route Salesperson, but also includes filling in for Merchandisers, Account Managers, Express Delivery Drivers, Snack Express, Special Events, and the Empties Route.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Provide Direction to Route Salesperson (Understand and be able to train new and existing employees in the following job responsibilities)

Essential Job Functions: 

  1. Understand and promote the company's marketing strategies for all product packages and categories. Promote products in accounts in line with these strategies.
  2. Execute current route's objectives for soliciting promotions; tie to pricing, ads, and displays.
  3. Using the Route Books, regularly call on all customers for the currently assigned route. When deviating from the set schedule, inform the Marketing Manager.
  4. Gain and maintain a working knowledge of all Route Salesperson routes. Know all other routes to the extent possible.
  5. Maintain product knowledge and maximize distribution of all products.
  6. Seek ads, displays, and reduced prices for products on promotion.
  7. Ensure all coolers/beverage sections are set space to sales for all products.
  8. Obtain best selling position in accounts.
  9. Solicit secondary displays.
  10. 1Solicit marketing equipment placements.
  11. Actively pursue and solicit new accounts.
  12. Gather, monitor, and report competitive information on all routes to which you are assigned.
  13. Strive to meet goals and quotas for current routes in accordance with KOIs, Model Store, and other company programs.
  14. Submit recommendations for changes in routes and/or service levels to Marketing Manager for approval via Route Request Change Form.
  15. Actively solicit placements of cold vault equipment including vendors, ELMs, and visi-coolers. Submit leads to Marketing Manager for follow-up.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Possess the ability to work independently, be financially driven and dependable as well as have excellent communication skills.
  • Have the ability to work in outdoors environment and able to lift up to 50 lbs. with ability to maneuver two-wheel cart weighting up to 200 lbs. At times, employees will need to maneuver kegs weighing up to 160 lbs.
  • Must have driver’s license with good driving record and be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to work some weekends. 
  • Must hold a CDL or be willing to complete the process in a timely manner to obtain one. There may be options for company sponsorship to complete the process, please speak with the hiring team about options for this if you do not hold a CDL.
  • Previous sales and route driving experience not required.
