EXTERNAL ANDCORPORATE RELATIONS VICE-PRESIDENCY (ECR)
The mission of External and Corporate Relations (ECR) is to help deliverfinancial and political support for the World Bank Group, strengthen the BankGroup's role as a global thought leader in development by enhancing andsafeguarding its reputation, and supporting operational teams to achievecountry outcomes. ECR manages corporate communications and global engagementwith key stakeholders, including media, civil society, foundations, privatesector, donor countries, and international organizations, as well as employeeengagement.
ECR also manages strategic communications for the World Bank's Regions andPractice Groups (PG) and leads the management of reputation risk.
ECR Department for Engagementand Partnerships (ECREP)
The Engagement and Partnerships Department (ECREP) is responsible for building relationshipsand partnerships with a diverse set of external stakeholders and providingstrategic advice, analysis, risk management support and messaging related toWBG programs and policies. In recent years, the WBG has greatly expandedits engagement with key stakeholders, including civil society, at both theglobal and country levels. In addition, ECREP leads advocacy and campaignefforts to further WBG development objectives and strengthen the impact of theinstitution's global convening platforms, including the Annual and SpringMeetings and the WBG corporate philanthropy program.
The Civil Society team in ECREP is responsible for the overall engagement andrelationship management with global civil society organizations (CSOs). Keyresponsibilities include: strategic relationship management and advice to Bankmanagement on CSO engagement; external communications to CSOs; managing majorinstitutional outreach events for civil society; fostering Bank-wide learningon civil society; and providing advice and support to units across the Bank onhow to consult and engage with CSOs.

You will bepart of a core team fostering CSO relationships and facilitating innovativetools and platforms for engagement with significant responsibility.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and capable individual with excellentwritten and verbal communication skills, ability to work cross-functionallyacross GPs and regions, and a strong work ethic and self-starter mindset to getthe job done with a keen eye towards innovation and continuous improvement.This role requires someone who is invigorated by challenges, complex issues,and thinking critically from a risk perspective. Dutiesand Accountabilities
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Products
- Build relationship with global and select country CSO partners and act as aclient lead, as appropriate
- Support drafting talking points, presentations or creating content for CSOengagement such as the monthly newsletter and monthly call invites
- Manage and maintain WB CSO website and CSPF websites
- Monitor and report CSO activities linked to high risk WB projects andprograms via Talkwalker and other sources
- Support the drafting and production of monthly edigest • Play a major role indeveloping social media plan at the AMs and SMs; coordinate and put togetherplans for social events and announcements
- Coordinate regional engagement sessions; create and support training andworkshops for internal and external stakeholders.
- Consistently produce high quality internal and external communicationscontent, including CommNet learning products related to Stakeholder Engagement.
Civil Society Policy Forum
- Coordination and delivery of the Civil Society Policy Forum at Spring andAnnual Meetings - liaise with SEC, GSD and other internal stakeholders toensure all details of the CSPF are accounted for.
- Support the successful delivery of the livestream of the Civil SocietyTownhall with WBG President at Annual Meetings 2022.
- Manage an effective workplan system to manage team-wide deliverables inpreparation for the CSPF.
- Support the planning and delivery of the Executive Directors' roundtable with CSOsheld during the AMs and SMs
- Collaborate with designers, photographers, interpreters and other vendors toensure smooth delivery of CSPF
- Design and roll out surveys via SurveyMonkey as required by the team
- Collaborate with the social media team to develop and promote content on theWB channels that drive traffic and invite CSO engagement; report back on socialmedia marketing efforts.
- Liaise with the CSPF working group as needed.
Other Tasks
- Draft relevant briefing materials and talking points for senior management
- Play a coordinating role between the CSO, FBO and parliamentary engagement teamto compile and circulate relevant information among and between teams
- Support updates and maintenance of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM)tool as well as CSO partner profiles.
- Represent the team as a member of the Global Partnerships Network (GPN)secretariat
- Represent the team in designated meetings and discussions
- Support communications with CSOs, including CS email account, phone line, andCSO monthly call
- Research and analyze Bank's country-level engagement with CSOs and captureresults stories across regions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria
- Master's degree with 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of Bank instruments, business processes and stakeholder communications.
- Strong client focus and problem-solving skills. Sound judgment and ability to evaluate client needs, suggest innovative approaches and follow up as required.
- Superior writing and verbal skills and presentation skills. Demonstrated experience writing blog entries and short and engaging pieces.
- Proven ability to effectively organize, package and share knowledge and information, working with variety of tools and audiences in a dynamic, entrepreneurial and creative manner.
- Good understanding with and working knowledge of communication channels and tools, especially social media and online tools related to planning, executing, and monitoring - e.g., campaign management, social marketing, opinion research, outreach strategies, message targeting, etc. Familiarity and experience with Hootsuite, Talkwalker, Adobe, and SurveyMonkey.
- Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and capably handle/juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
- Commitment to teamwork, good interpersonal skills, can-do positive attitude, and professional etiquette.
Competencies
- Understanding of the political and economic contexts relevant to the WBG's work, including political dynamics and how critical stakeholders such as development organizations, civil society, and the general public interact on various issues.
- Ability to develop relationships with critical stakeholders and diplomatically handle sensitive situations with target audiences.
- Knowledge of the WBG's Access to Information Policy. Has experience in handling information distribution and in the design and delivery of information dissemination activities
- Knowledge of stakeholder analysis and implementing stakeholder engagement plans.
If the selected candidate is a current World Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 1 year 0 months term appointment.
