External Contractor - Mentor role for Data Streaming track

Position Overview: Mentors are industry professionals who provide world-class technical support to our learners in their Nanodegree journey. All our mentors are handpicked through a rigorous selection process so that we can truly be #studentfirst.  As a mentor you will be meeting virtually on a weekly basis with your students for community support live office hours and other activities. Required skills/qualifications:

• Fluency in English both written and spoken

• Eligibility Requirements: Mentors must have at least 7 years of industry experience or a master’s degree in the relevant field.

• Technical competence: Expert proficiency in Apache Kafka and the Kafka ecosystem (including Kafka Connect and KSQL) build and deploy solutions using Apache Spark and Spark Streaming Stream Processing concepts including windowing functions and event-driven architecture Data Serialization (e.g. Avro) and Data Schema Registry SQL for stream processing aggregations.

• Graduate from a Udacity Nanodegree Program is a added plus

• Experience teaching technical concepts and public speaking organizing technical talks or webinars

• Positive character trusted by the students creating emotional ties in the group

• Flexibility at their current job to take this challenge part-time as an external contractor

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support for students over an online community forum

• Answer questions around course content over the forum and facilitate content for students who get stuck in learning

• Host one weekly live virtual session to offer direct real-time support to students.

• Redirect learners to appropriate support channels and escalate issues to the Mentor Operations team when needed
