What you will do
Prepare GAAP and SEC-compliant financial reports and disclosures for external audiences, including shareholders, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and investment analysts. Lead the annual audits for the Company's employee benefit plans, including all defined contribution, defined benefit, health and welfare, and master trust plans. This position partners with various departments, including JCI Business Unit Accounting teams around the world, HR and Benefits, Corporate Treasury, and Corporate Consolidations.
How you will do it
- Assists with the preparation of the Annual Report on Form 10-K and Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q including related footnotes and XBRL tagging.
- Coordinates with various global Business Unit personnel and corporate departments to ensure receipt of timely and accurate financial and nonfinancial information which is used in the preparation of the Company's financial statements.
- Leads the Company's annual employee benefit plan audits, including communicating with HR and external auditors and preparing annual financial statements and related footnotes.
- Accumulates the Company's employee benefit plan data, including actuarial reports, trustee statements, third party confirmations, etc. for the annual employee benefit plan audit process.
- Prepares special reports and analyses, and assists with special projects as needed.
- Provides internal and external auditors with information required to perform annual audits and quarterly reviews.
- Ensures proper documentation of and compliance with the Company's internal control procedures.
What we look for
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Minimum three years of relevant experience, preferably with a public accounting firm
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting, including the accounting and reporting of employee benefit plans
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to build professional relationships with individuals at all levels across the organization
- Ability to solve problems and see opportunities for operational improvement and a drive to achieve both short and long-term results
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and changing environment
- A strong desire to learn and grow personally and professionally
Preferred
- CPA certification
- Experience with large, global publicly-traded corporations
- Experience with ERPs and Workiva
