Your seat at the table

Extruder Machine Operator Trainer will manage and maintain the operation of the Food Manufacturing Equipment; troubleshoot and perform minor repairs are part of the role responsibilities. Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance skillsets will be an asset for running the fast paced automated equipment.

What you bring to the table

• Communicates operation status with on-coming/off going shifts.
• Perform all required in-process tests/monitor finished product results.
• Continual monitoring of all equipment in assigned areas and quality of product being produced.
• Troubleshoot, recognize maintenance problems and initiate a work request to get equipment repaired.
• Must be able to perform all aspects of job functions involved in a changeover.
• Communicate/coordinate with mill operators for new product feed to be batch into meal system.
• Communicate start-ups/shutdown with PMO.
• Ensure proper equipment, knives, dies, & pressure plates are installed when necessary.
• Start-up and lining out extruders once changeovers are complete.
• Must maintain adequate, satisfactory sanitation level of assigned areas at all times.
• Must be able to accurately complete all daily paperwork.
• Relieve other operators in processing as needed.
• Maintain all other processing areas. Be able to perform both daily and shutdown clean up as determined.
• Perform basic extruder operations i.e., changing of hardware, perform quality checks, and stabilize extruders.
• Be able to assist in performing production feed test.
• Monitor equipment as needed.
• Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.

• Must be able to work different shift if needed
• Must be available for startup

Food Safety

• Follow all Shearer’s safety guidelines, GMPs, and food quality reflected in SQF
• Avoids injury and damage by practicing superior safety habits.

Food Quality

• Maintains Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in personal hygiene and in the work area.
• Ensure all potatoes are of Shearer’s quality specifications
• Report any food safety, quality or safety related issues to management immediately.

Occupational Safety

• Responsible to follow Shearer’s Occupational Safety Programs

Work Environment

• The employee works in both indoor and outdoor weather conditions.

Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
