Fabrication Technician, Manufacturing

Vast is looking for a Fabrication Technician , reporting to the Senior Manager of Advanced Manufacturing, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This individual will be responsible for the assembly of varies subassemblies across the entire Space Station. In short this role is responsible for building a large portion of the secondary structure of the space station. Â
This is a non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.Â
Responsibilities:Â
- Ensure all production services are performed on time, safely and in a professional manner
- Stage, setup, assemble hardware, install inserts, etc.
- Use precision calibrated tools–torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers and thread gagesÂ
- Hands on operations with both large and small fragile assembliesÂ
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Perform work according to procedures, specificationsÂ
- Use various mechanical tools without instructionsÂ
- Collaborate with engineers to develop and document activitiesÂ
- Perform other related duties as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificateÂ
- 1+ years of experience in hardware assembly, and/or installation
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environmentÂ
- Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy equipment
- Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterityÂ
- A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings and proceduresÂ
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high paced, challenging environment
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to work overtime, and/or weekends as needed
- Must be able to lift at least 25lbs unassistedÂ
Salary Range: California
$22—$36 USD
