Job Summary
The Facilities Division is dedicated to providing quality leadership, agile solutions, and exceptional enterprise integrated services that enables The Aerospace Corporation to achieve mission success in the rapidly changing space enterprise environment. The Facilities Construction Department is a unit within the Facilities Division responsible for general building and grounds improvement projects and major construction within the Corporation's owned and leased building portfolio across the U.S.
The Director's scope of responsibility includes leadership, direction, and management of the team performing repair, alteration, and equipment installation projects on grounds and, in or upon leased and owned building infrastructure. The Director ensures quality of construction, compliance with contractual documents, safety plans, governing code requirements, and Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) Contract/Governmental requirements. The Director ensures enterprise service integration with all service organizations (IT, Security & Safety, Supply Chain, Corporate Communications, People Operations) through collaboration to establish priorities and effectively plan, schedule, and coordinate project activities.

What You'll Be Doing
- Directs, plans, and organizes Facilities construction program schedule and budget to ensure appropriate internal and external staffing support are resourced to execute annual program on time and within budget while meeting customer requirements; sets priorities and allocates necessary resources to complete projects.
- Collaborates across enterprise service organizations to prioritize and effectively plan, schedule, and coordinate an integrated delivery model.
- Prepares cost analysis and estimates; monitors construction costs; maintains detailed cost summary reports; distributes weekly and monthly status reports and schedules.
- Monitors performance of organization and program delivery through relevant metrics and key performance indicators.
- Audits department process and engage in continuous process evaluation and improvement.
- Represents Facilities in corporate emergency management and disaster recovery programs.
- Responsible for hiring, supervising, staff development, scheduling overtime, approving time off, determining objectives, initiating action, and completing annual performance reviews of department staff performing the following duties:
- Preparing schedules, budgets, and spend plans.
- Developing analysis and solutions to complex construction assignments involving laboratories, information technology systems, and secure facilities.
- Consulting with users, architects, civil/structural MP&E engineers, and assists in the development of building criteria.
- Analyzing and recommending contractor bids; selecting and supervising contractors, architects, and civil/structural MP&E engineers to ensure projects are completed safely, meet quality, and are on schedule and within cost parameters.
- Inspecting all phases of construction projects; interfaces with city, governing agencies, and internal departments to ensure compliance with codes/regulations affecting building construction and/or modification.
- Conducting construction surveillance and inspections to ensure adherence to construction documents, safety, and contractual requirements.
- Arrangement and direction construction job walks, pre-construction conferences, and Engineering and Planning Group meetings.
- Oversight of Facilities work orders and change order requests; troubleshoots field problems and questions.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field
- 7 years minimum experience in construction project management, including oversight of contractors and subcontractors, and common construction contracting methods and procedures.
- Ability to balance long term strategic goals with tactical plans; sets goals and identifies approaches to facilitate strategy implementation.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and projects and handle multiple priorities and projects at one time; possess strong organizational skills
- Willingness and ability to travel to remote-site locations.
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- 10 or more years of relevant experience with Bachelor's Degree.
- 3 or more years of management experience.
- Advanced education in construction management, engineering, or related field.
- Professional license or certifications (Professional Engineer, Certified Construction Manager).
- Experience working with construction management software applications.
- Experience with classified construction governed by ICD 705
We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$118,753 - $146,877 - $175,000
Pay Basis: Annual
