Facilities Project Planner
Go Beyondยฎ with Ball Aerospace Facilities & Support Services team! The Facilities team is comprised of over 65 dedicated Facilities professionals, supporting Ball Aerospace's two million SF of real estate over 39 properties in Colorado. This established team of Facilities professionals is committed to service and support, continuous improvement, and creating and maintaining Facilities that enable world class engineers and technicians to create a better, safer, and more informed and productive world.
Ball's Planning & Interior team designs office space in new and existing buildings, and supports growth across Ball campuses in Westminster, Broomfield, and Boulder. The team works to implement and enhance building amenities and services and create Facilities that foster Ball culture across our campuses.
Ball's Planner interfaces with Ball employees on all matters related to facility planning, space management and people and equipment moves. Planners serve as project managers, validating and developing detailed design layouts and project scopes and schedules. Planners manage all vendors related to office space design, furniture installation and employee and/or equipment moves, and work with their Facilities partners on overall project costs. Planners create innovative design solutions, maximizing space, introducing amenities and flexible working environments that support a dynamic workforce and environment.
What You'll Do:
  • Provide planning and interior design services to support Ball campuses. Interface with internal Ball business and support team goals, functional needs, space requirements and budget.
  • Design dynamic and sustainable office space solutions, utilizing existing and/or new modular systems and/or free-standing furniture. Provide cost-effective space planning solutions by utilizing existing company furniture standards wherever possible.
  • Develop detailed space plans and layouts. Planning to include employee and equipment move plans and pre-development field verifications and validation of building condition. Design flexible and varied environments that support growth and new hire projections for all end users/internal Ball customers.
  • Oversee design needs for day to day Move/Add/Change (MAC) requests. Support to include providing layouts utilizing AutoCAD for modular system and freestanding furniture, from initial programming and field verifications to final installation documents.
  • Partner with Engineering and Industrial Operations teams to design seating within lab and/or manufacturing environments, including lab seating, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) Bench seating, and storage options within technical spaces.
  • Provide freestanding and modular furniture design for ongoing retrofit or new construction projects. Complete initial programming, furniture layout and specification, budget, procurement, and installation coordination.
  • Review, validate, approve, and process furniture and design invoices for payment.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evolving Facilities Management trends, office space design, and furniture and ergonomic best practices and translate changes in work environment design into dynamic spaces for Ball employees.
  • Prepare CAD drawings, 3-D renderings and design specifications for project specific tasks and share with internal/external service providers and/or Sr. Planner for review.
  • Provide updated furniture CAD drawings to the IWMS Supervisor within the Planning & Interiors team.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You'll Need:
  • BS/BA in a related field plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Facilities Management, with an emphasis in Facilities Design and/or Project Management preferred.
  • 4 or more years' experience in Facilities Management and/or Planning, Facilities Project Management, or Furniture/Interior Project Management or Design preferred.
  • Facilities Management, Project Management and/or Interior Design Accreditations preferred.
  • Demonstrated Proficiency with CAFM/IWMS systems (ARCHIBUS, experience preferred).
  • Autodesk AutoCAD 2014 + - functional knowledge and operational fluency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel required.
  • Knowledge of multiple commercial furniture lines preferred.
  • Familiarity with classified and secured work environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with IFMA and ANSI/BOMA standards preferred.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Relocation for this position is not available.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $63,000 - $84,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
