Fashion Designer

Position Overview:
(This position is intended to be based in Central or South America)
The Fashion Designer will play a critical role in the design and development of Selkirk Sport’s soft goods product lines, including apparel, bags, footwear, and accessories. This role demands a blend of graphic and product design skills, along with an understanding of fabrication processes and a keen eye for colors and trends. The ideal candidate will be organized, capable of managing multiple projects, and proficient in design software and technical design processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Development: Create innovative designs for apparel, bags, footwear, and accessories, from initial concept through final production. Ensure that designs align with brand aesthetics and meet functional requirements.
• Research and Inspiration: Conduct research on customers and competitors. Gather inspiration related to aesthetics, materials, and construction techniques to stay ahead of industry trends.
• Technical Design: Prepare detailed tech packets, including specifications for materials, colors, and construction. Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure designs are executed accurately.
• Product Fabrication: Apply your understanding of fabrication processes such as injection molding, 3D printing, and sewing in the design and development of products.
• Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is maintained throughout the process.
• Photography and Presentation: Utilize basic photography skills to capture high-quality images of samples for presentations and internal reviews.
• Review and Revision: Continuously review and refine product designs, incorporating feedback and making necessary adjustments until products are market-ready.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of professional design experience.
• Education or experience in graphic design and product design.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
• Basic photography skills with the ability to take polished photos of product samples.
• Experience in cut-and-sew product design.
• Familiarity with tech packet creation and an eye for color and trend analysis.
• General understanding of product fabrication processes, including injection molding, 3D printing, and sewing.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Nice to Have:

• Proficiency in a 3D design program, preferably SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
• Experience in footwear and apparel design.
• Knowledge of materials, including fabrics, plastics, and composites.

Daily Tasks:

• Conduct research on the customer and competitor products.

• Create new and innovative designs across multiple categories, including apparel, bags, footwear, and accessories.
• Prepare detailed tech packets and collaborate with manufacturing teams.
