What You’re Applying For:
Edmunds is looking for a Feature Content Editor to be an integral member of our 40+ person editorial team. The right candidate will be trustworthy, unbiased and capable of connecting with car shoppers on their level. This means putting aside your own personal biases in favor of one that looks at each vehicle as a potential purchase.
The role must be able to produce insightful and easy-to-read written copy and video scripts that tell a story and give car shoppers the latest information. Our ideal candidate can find the unique angle to each idea and help others bring that story to life. We're looking for someone who relishes the challenge of keeping up with fast-breaking developments; making quick judgments about which topics to cover; and helping devise creative angles and unique approaches to video and social formats. They’ll love ideatiating with an eye on building audience numbers and engagement across our video and social channels. What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with stakeholders in the development of industry-leading automotive storytelling across written, social and video content
- Ideate story concepts to keep Edmunds at the forefront of automotive; raise our visibility in an increasingly noisey segment and help ensure we are the destination for consumers for all things cars, trucks, SUVs and EVs
- Help identify and develop new content types across all platforms
- Identify, develop, mentor and nurture writing and on screen talent
- Identify strong story ideas and guide script development amongst our team of video presenters
- Report to and work with Senior Director, Video and the broader video team to bring to life engaging stories and formats across Edmunds video channels
- Work with the Senior Director, Written and Director, Content Strategy to identify and execute best practices in our written content production
- Work with the Social Media Director and the broader social team to bring to life engaging stories and formats across Edmunds social channels
- Help develop an environment that fosters creativity, communication and transparency
- Write and edit scripts for video, as well as create review-based, feature and news content, when applicable
- Fact-check scripts and videos
- Work with OEM representatives to secure first-access to and exclusive opportunities with new productsÂ
- Work strategically, as required, with internal partners (PR, marketing etc.) to represent and amplify Edmunds’ editorial.Â
What You Need:
- An authentic passion for cars. You're fanatical and deeply knowledgeable about our subject matter, giving you instant credibility both internally and externally
- Automotive industry knowledge and relationships, specifically with OEMs
- Able to guide and mentor our team of hosts and writers whilst being hands on with writing (scripts, and articles), ideation (written, video, social), editing and fact checking
- Top-level writing, script writing and editorial skills with an eye toward innovative storytelling across all media, with an emphasis on video and digital
- Ability to work cross-functionally within the organization
- Coaching: A deep energy reservoir to cultivate and mentor the creative output of writers, testers, storytellers and operational members to deliver groundbreaking journalism in our industry

- High comfort level in taking the initiative and managing multiple projects, people and deadlines with an exacting attention to detail
- Ability to work cross-functionally across the organization
- Strong understanding of audience development, performance metrics and analytics
- Experience guiding and mentoring junior team members
- Experience with video and social media platforms
- Ability to convey thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively in visual, verbal and written format
- Able to listen to feedback and adjust course accordinglyÂ
