Job Description

Pay Range: $91,075 - $113,850 per year. 

The Feed Mill Manager is responsible for directing safe, efficient and cost-effective production and delivery of feed. 

Direct responsibilities include overseeing the following:

• Control all production costs to ensure lowest manufacturing costs are obtained.
• Manage inventory and shrink for the feed mill, tracking trends in order to respond to issues immediately.
• Develop and ensure adherence to annual operating budgets.
• Maintain a well-motivated and well-trained staff of team members to efficiently manage the feed mill, developing a pipeline to ensure a smooth transition when positions become open. The hiring of hourly and salaried employees and overseeing their work schedules and/or assignments.
• Development of employee’s safety awareness and ensure all required daily, weekly, monthly and annual safety training is performed and documented for all team members. 
• Facilitate a strong culture of safety.
• Oversee schedules for receiving ingredients and accurately managing inventory.
• Oversee scheduled ingredient and finished feed testing, submission of samples, evaluating results, and reviewing with manager and nutritionist.
• Oversee all feed scheduling to ranches, maintaining effective communication with all live production supervisors.
• Monitor pellet and crumble quality of all formulas. Maintain efficient office staff and feed scheduling personnel.
• Oversee plant maintenance, repairs, PM program and capital investment projects. Prepare and submit quotes for necessary repairs, including ROI analysis on projects, improvements, and major maintenance.
• Manage facility housekeeping plan to ensure compliance with combustible dust requirements and best management practices.
• Manage facility and recordkeeping to ensure compliance with NAE PVP, USDA, FDA and antibiotic stewardship and delivery of feed.

Qualifications

• BS/BA Degree in Business Management, Ag Business or related field or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of milling experience preferred
• 5+ years of supervisory experience and proven leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have knowledge of accounting principles.
• Must have strong technical/mechanical abilities.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Must be a self-starter with hands-on experience in each area of the operations.
• Ability to meet and forecast changing production needs.
• Proficient use of PC including Excel and Word.
