Field Applications Engineer (Japan)

DSP Concepts Inc is looking for a remotely-based Field Application Engineer in Japan to provide technical support for expanding business, and reports to an established Japanese Sales Engineering Manager for Japan and the APAC region.

Responsibilities;

• Be the primary point of technical customer contact in the post-sales process, responding to, analyzing and coordinating the resolution of issues
• Visit customers often, on-site, and work with various teams using customer’s hardware and products
• Participate in morning sales engineering conferences with staff in Santa Barbara, San Jose and other worldwide locations
• Assist Sales Managers in creating potential application of company products optimized to company needs
• Prepare detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customers products, applications and solutions.
• Build applications based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of company solutions via rapid prototyping and/or product demonstrations
• Tune vehicle audio systems
• Record and document acoustical, electrical, and latency measurements for consumer audio products and vehicles.

Requirements

• Native level Japanese and fluent business-level written and spoken English
• Proficiency in C, ARM/DSP coding and software integration
• Knowledge of embedded software, IP and firmware engineering focused on audio processing
• Knowledge of firm time or similar RTOS used for embedded systems processing
• Experience with vehicle audio system tuning
• Comfortable to work independently, with minimal supervision, and visit customers in Tokyo, Kansai and other regions, including Korea and Taiwan.
• Bachelors or Masters engineering degree

This role reports to an accomplished Japanese sales manager with deep DSP and audio related engineering experience, based in Australia. He regularly visits Japan for customer visits.

The FAE hire is the first of what might be a few hires for Japan, and consideration is underway to establish a Japan local entity office, but presently salary will be paid from HQ and not include Shakai Hoken benefits or support.

Targeted compensation is Xm to XXM, depending on past salary, with a small bonus included based on KPI achievement.

Benefits: 100% kokumin nenkin and 50% of kokumin kenko hoken, all SOHO/travel/hotels business expenses paid etc as needed. Stock options.
