Job Description

Field Engineering Operations Tech II maintains and repairs plant systems, equipment and components involved in signal processing, amplification and transmission.
  • Provides break/fix, service modifications, activation, change or decommission (MACD) OF Core, Edge and Transport network elements for both Residential and Cox Business assets.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs problems with transmission levels, signal losses, off-air interference and equipment failures.
  • Maintains software within MTC including but not limited to backups, generic releases, and software upgrades.
  • Remotely installs, repairs and maintains equipment placed on towers (e.g. microwave transmission).
  • Performs proactive network status checks as part of normal surveillance activities, ensuring optimum performance.
  • Assists installation/service technicians encountering problems at customer's site to determine reasons for failures.
  • Supports implementation of new services, systems, applications and architectures with evaluation, testing, and support documentation.
  • Opens, tracks, executes, and resolves escalated trouble tickets related to trouble conditions on network platforms. Provides on-site and/or remote technical support.
  • Operates to meet network reliability and availability metrics set forth by Cox Standards.
  • Applies code upgrades, applications, maintenance, upgrades and configures network equipment and troubleshoots.
  • Ensures compliance with FCC (EAS).
  • Partners with change management for impact identification, network validation, and execution of support activities.
  • Proactively determines maintenance trends and corrective action.
  • Analyzes single customer troubles, network alarms, trending and correlation data.
  • Proficient in all areas of plant systems and handles more complex maintenance duties, problems and repairs.
  • Helps to identify root cause and involves appropriate internal and external resources to resolve the problem.
  • Works closely with various engineering groups and network control technicians to develop and implement tools and processes to improve capabilities and ensure quality service levels.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to team members on successful service and troubleshooting tactics to improve the performance of team members.
  • Shares knowledge with less experienced technicians and boundary partners.

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS with two years' experience, or MS plus up to 2 years' experience or 4 years education/equivalency with no degree
  • Experience working with IP, Ethernet, SONET, DWDM, DOCSIS, Video and telephone technologies
  • Experience in provisioning and troubleshooting layer II and III networks
  • Expert knowledge of performance testing and test equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with team throughout the organization
  • Valid local State Driver's License and driving record that meets Cox standards

Preferred
  • Experience in telecommunications industry desired
  • Cisco certifications: CCNA, CCNP

USD 30.58 - 45.87 per hour
