Summary

This vacancy is for a Field Supervisor (FS) position supporting Special Census (SC) operations for West Dundee, IL. This position reports to the U.S. Census Bureau's Chicago Regional Office.

Applicants selected will have their home as their Duty Station and will be required to travel throughout their local area.

  • You must be 18 years old.
  • You must be a US Citizen.
  • You must have good hearing and the ability to read small print. You must be in good physical condition to drive, walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • You will occasionally be required to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • You must be willing to travel throughout all parts of the SC area, sometimes on short notice and sometimes overnight.
  • You must have access to a vehicle (or public transportation) so that you can travel throughout the assigned geographic area.
  • You must establish and maintain a safe work environment in your residence.
  • You must have access to a landline or mobile phone.
  • You must be willing to use all methods of communication (face to face, phone call, emails, letter, etc.).
  • You must be willing to accept all assignments
  • You must be suitable for Federal employment.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable, at time of hire (www.sss.gov).
  • You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
  • A one or two-year trial period is required (dependent upon veteran's status).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Field Supervisor. The applicant must have experience in the following areas: (1) interviewing clients, respondents, and/or customers to gather and obtain data in person and/or by telephone, (2) completing work assignments in accordance with production or progress standards, (3) experience applying procedural guidance and/or training to address complex or unusual problems.

NOTE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Education

Education cannot be substituted for experience for this position.

  • You will be required to complete a Declaration for Federal Employment (OF-306) to determine your suitability for Federal employment and to authorize a background investigation. You will also be REQUIRED TO SIGN AND CERTIFY THE ACCURACY OF THE INFORMATION IN YOUR APPLICATION.   2. A copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action" noting current position, grade/band level, and duty location;
  3. A copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and
  4. Any documentation from your bureau/operating unit that shows your current promotion potential.
(When the area of consideration includes applicants from outside of the Department's workforce) ICTAP applicants MUST submit the following documents:
  1. A copy of your RIF separation notice; notice of proposed removal for declining a directed geographic relocation outside of the local commuting area; notice of disability annuity termination; certification from your former agency that it cannot place you after your recovery from a work-related compensable injury; or certification from the National Guard Bureau or Military Department that you are eligible for disability retirement.
  2. A copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action", documenting your RIF separation, noting your position, grade/band level, and duty location, and/or Agency certification of inability to place you through RPL, etc.;
  3. A copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and
  4. Any documentation from your agency that shows your current promotion potential.
