DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
You’re someone who has a carrier network. When we need to find a new carrier lane, “you know someone,” and can have an opportunity ready to meet the demand in a timely fashion. Great at building and maintaining relationships with both open communication and solid analytical data, you’re a builder excited to create a carrier network that can deliver wild, sustainably caught seafood to our members efficiently.
The Final Mile Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the last mile of our shipping network. Through a combination of data analytics and relationship management, this position will work on addressing specific issues pertaining to small parcel delivery. A member of the Supply Chain Team and reporting to the Director of Operations, they will work closely with our Member Experience team and our carrier partners to identify and support process changes that will improve internal KPIs and metrics.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage daily relationships with final mile carriers
- Communicate with final mile carriers to address one-off, trending, and quality delivery issues
- Assist the Member Experience (MX) team on monitoring delays, delayed thaws, on time thaws, etc. Provide carrier insights for feedback to members
- Analyze Members’ delivery data to address trending issues resulting in package reships, refunds, and damages
- Manage carrier claims in identifying delivery failures
- Develop short and long-term parcel strategies
- Coordinate with fulfillment centers to implement new strategies and improvement projects for carrier pick-ups
- Build and maintain relationships with new parcel partners and suppliers, negotiate contracts
- Paying invoices for carriers
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Deep experience and demonstrated track record of success in logistics
- Experience working with regional and national parcel carriers
- Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and execute effectively and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Proficiency in Google Suite with emphasis on Excel/Google Sheets and WMS systems
- Experience with databases, Looker (or comparable BI visualization platform)
- Adaptable to new systems and processes (Asana, Looker, ShipStation/Easypost, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- A willingness to learn and embrace uncertainty
NICE TO HAVES
- Passionate about sustainable, wild-caught seafood
- Ecommerce, or 3PL management experience
- Experience working with perishable goods
- Prior experience working with distributed, remote teams
- Proficiency in languages other than English
The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000, commensurate with skills and experience. Wild Alaskan’s benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance, 401k, PTO, safe/sick time, vacation, parental leave and more, as well as a delicious box of free fish every month.
