This role is responsible for ensuring the proper accounting, forecasting, reporting, governance and control processes for all Advertising & Consumer Promotions activities. This includes period brand allocations of expenses and sound analyses of deferred, accrued and expense balances as well as updating internal control processes. The role will serve as primary business partner to the Shopper Marketing team and Marketing Operations / Brand teams with regards to A&CP budget, activities and ROI.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related financial field
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • 2+ years of work experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Financial modeling experience
  • CPG experience preferred
  • Accounting - The knowledge and application of Mars, Inc. accounting policies and principles, U.S. GAAP (as described in the Finance Manual) in order to meet business reporting requirements for providing timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
  • Financial Control - The knowledge and application of business processes, internal control concepts and practices, and auditing techniques to ensure cost-effective protection of business assets and approval of and governance over business activities at the appropriate level in the organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and influence without direct reporting authority in order to achieve objectives.
  • Strong analytical capabilities coupled with the ability use storytelling through transparent communication of results, identify issues, obtain mutual agreement relative to the resolution and drive change.
  • Ability to manage detailed information, understand complex processes and use relationships to achieve results.
  • Must have a high degree of self-direction with the ability to constantly seek innovative ways to perform tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Must be proactive, high energy, detailed-oriented when appropriate, results-oriented, and willing to drive change

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Provide analysis and insights of period results, periodic/annual A&CP forecast and support annual operating plans while working closely with Marketing, Shopper Marketing, and FP&A.
  • Lead periodic reviews with Brand Managers and Shopper Marketers highlighting insights and providing relevant budget tracking reporting with potential risk or opportunities to budgets while ensuring completeness and accuracy of assumptions utilize for accruals
  • Aid in development of and execute robust reporting to track budget performance of A&CP for business partners -Brand Managers/Operations & Shopper Marketers
  • Deliver world class customer service by acting as the first point of contact for internal stakeholders with questions regarding shopper promotional programs, Media/Production or coupon information and funding guidelines
  • Drive efficiencies by finding solutions to improve reporting and data systems used to support our A&CP reporting and accounting.
  • Performs period close journal entries and brand allocation for expense recognition, accruals/deferrals and account analysis/reconciliation at the end of each period for Advertising, Consumer Promotions and/including Shopper Marketing
  • Drive continuous improvement across A&CP (including Shopper Marketing) opportunities with an ROI mindset to help deliver financial objectives.
  • Maintains adherence to Mars financial policies and procedures through the integrity of SAP data, Compass (trade management system), A&CP chart of accounts and internal orders.
  • Prepares and supports audit requirements as required.
  • Complete ad hoc projects and requests as required.
