Job Summary:

Johnson Controls is looking for a Finance Analytics Data Scientist. The ideal candidate will drive technical difficulty and lead advanced predictive modeling projects. This is a highly visible role at JCI focused on using advanced techniques to solve sophisticated business problems and drive improved business performance. We are looking for someone who finds passion in the application of statistical frameworks and techniques with large and complex data and be at the forefront of innovation.

Principal Duties:

• Lead development and validation of sophisticated predictive models applying the data pipeline by analyzing current and historical results and make recommendations to drive business performance improvement
• Productionalize models for company-wide deployment
• Perform maintenance, monitor performance, and upgrade models to improve accuracy and performance
• Develop relationships with key IT, data science and business unit leaders
• Projects may include but not limited to financial forecasts, cost reduction initiatives, profitability or performance optimization, and dataflow, business or data governance process improvements
• Work with database administrators to add external datasets to enhance predictive model performance
• Build trust by proactively providing credible and improved support
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to find opportunities for improvement and answer questions
• Prepare reports for management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
• Find opportunities to optimize sales and profitability through pricing strategies

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or other quantitative related fields with Data Science minor or concentration required. Master's degree in Data Science preferred
• Extensive knowledge of programming languages (ex: SQL, R, Python, etc.) data science, machine learning, and time-series analysis techniques a must
• Business or academic experience conducting quantitative analysis and developing analytical models, dashboards, data visualizations, and decision-making tools
• Knowledge of Data visualization tools (ex: Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
• Experience with Microsoft Excel (graphs, functions, etc.)
• Project management skills in driving large complex efforts with many collaborators to successful outcomes
• Business or academic experience with cloud technologies such as AWS/GCP
• Ability to adapt to constantly evolving priorities in a large, complex environment
• Experience with financial analysis or experience in finance function a plus
