Position: Finance & Data Analyst

Employment Type: Full Time Exempt

Location: Twin Cities Office (Downtown St. Paul)

Reports to: Director of Advancement

Salary: $60,000

Purpose of Position

The Finance & Data Analyst will support the finance, budgeting, data, and reporting needs of Genesys Works - Twin Cities. The Analyst will work with and support leaders and teams across the organization, including the Advancement team, the Program team, and the Executive Director, to create an annual budget and manage to that budget. In addition, the Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on operational and impact data for grants and other business purposes.

You must be a self-starter, work with multiple stakeholders, and be skilled at developing processes, leading initiatives and holding teammates accountable. Individuals with a passion for student career success, data-informed programming, data and analytics management and managing budgeting are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Budgeting and Finance (35%)
    • Work with the National Finance team to manage the annual budget, forecasting and reforecasting process for Genesys Works - Twin Cities, working with department leaders to determine earned income, contributed income and expenses.
    • Evaluate financial needs of the organization, develop budgeting strategies that increase organizational sustainability.
    • Continuously monitor and evaluate the financial performance of the organization against projections and identify notable concerns, opportunities, etc. Meet regularly with program leaders to review budget status.
    • Pull and assemble budgets specific to grant terms and programs for grant proposals and grant reports.
    • Provide basic finance training and counsel for new and seasoned staff.

  • Reporting and analysis (30%)
    • Serve as the local lead on process and impact metrics, utilizing Salesforce dashboards and reports to assemble and analyze data on program participation and impact.
    • Be the local liaison to the National Salesforce Administrator.
    • Support the Executive Director, Advancement team and other staff with compiling operational
    • and impact reports for Board reports, Annual report, grant proposals and/or grant reports.

  • Expense Management & Accounts Receivable (15%)
    • Work with the National Finance team to manage Accounts Receivable, ensuring we have the right billing information and following up on any delinquent accounts.
    • Be the point person at Genesys Works - Twin Cities for expense and vendor management, training staff on processes and systems and identifying ways to optimize.
    • Serve at the local expert on the expense management system (Concur) and approve invoices.
    • Support the Corporate Partnership team with contract management.

  • Operational support
    • Serve as a member of the cross-organization operations team and assist with additional HR, Technology, office and operations projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Deep belief in organizational mission and a commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • 3+ years of professional experience working in finance & analysis, ideally in education, workforce development or in working with youth in underserved communities;
  • A 2-year degree in account, finance or related field (or equivalent education); 4-year degree preferred.
  • Experience with budgeting processes and financial analysis;
  • Experience with CRM, specifically Salesforce and proficiency with data analysis, including utilizing Salesforce reports and dashboards;
  • Ability to work with and influence many different stakeholders, across the organization and at our national organization;
  • Ability to work independently while simultaneously maintaining a team focus;
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing circumstances;
  • Detail orientation, with regards to budget and data analysis;
  • Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations in diverse settings (e.g., students, corporate personnel and/or school administrators);
  • Ability to work with computers and databases;
  • Must pass a background check;
  • Ability to travel throughout the twin cities metro area, including locations inaccessible by public transit

Compensation and How to Apply

Starting annual salary for this position is $60,000. As an organization we value pay equity transparency for candidates and current Genesys Works staff. We offer market-based salaries that are based on local data. Comprehensive benefits package includes health coverage, paid time off, and (10) company holidays; a 403(b)-retirement plan with company match; validated parking near the Genesys Works office in downtown St. Paul, and a communication allowance.

Genesys Works utilizes a hybrid structure, with an expectation that employees work both remotely and in-person (1-3 days weekly) at our downtown St. Paul office.
