About the role:

The Finance & Strategy (F&S) team’s mission is to optimize Samsara’s capital allocation through high-quality data analysis, proactive strategic business partnering & influencing, and scalable processes & systems.

We are responsible for:

  1. Driving the business towards optimal long-term operating plan
  2. Delivering an accurate forecast & annual operating plan and ensuring the business meets or beats that plan
  3. Scaling F&S systems & processes and driving cross-functional collaboration

Our team is looking for a Finance & Strategy Manager to partner with our global go-to-market (GTM) organization and drive finance-led initiatives tied to the company’s top-line. You will maintain our ACV, ARR, & Revenue forecasts and track GTM KPIs & other leading indicators of Samsara’s top-line. This role involves driving quantitative & qualitative analysis to inform strategic GTM choices and identify growth & optimization opportunities.

The GTM F&S team’s outputs have audiences that include the CFO, CRO, CMO and other senior executives that help inform key business decisions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves data & numbers, and is highly self-motivated & analytical. 

This is a highly visible role in the organization involving close partnership with senior business leaders across Samsara and can be office-based in our San Francisco office or fully remote.

In this role, you will: 
  • Build and own F&S team’s monthly top-line forecast models, set targets, and understand deviations in performance of actuals to drive strategy and operational rigor
  • Partner closely with leaders across our Sales, Marketing, & Customer Outcomes teams to drive strategic decision-making, investment prioritization, and long-range planning
  • Serve as the key point of contact for questions around the F&S team’s ACV, ARR and revenue forecast
  • Create frameworks & perform data-driven analysis to identify, evaluate and execute on value creation initiatives, investment opportunities and risk mitigation strategies across segments, regions, and products
  • Build scalable processes and systems to enhance financial visibility, control and planning effectiveness that support the next wave of Samsara’s growth
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 5+ years of operational experience including experience within investment banking, management consulting, private equity, venture capital, or business insights / analytics roles, and ideally more recent experience in strategic finance functions at a high-growth company
  • Undergraduate degree in finance / economics / accounting / mathematics / computer science preferred
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis capabilities, including advanced Excel / Google Sheets and Powerpoint / Google Slides skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a fast-paced, often changing environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; comfortable presenting to senior management
  • Must be a proactive & highly organized self-starter, able to work independently under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Industry experience with SaaS-based technology companies required
  • Prior experience using NetSuite, Workday, Salesforce, Adaptive Planning and Tableau is a plus
Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver total compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs).  A new hire RSU award is awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.

We pay for performance, and top performers are eligible to receive above target equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
