The Role
The Finance Director will lead and develop a small team based in Australia and will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the core finance function. Responsible for all accounting processes and systems ranging from technical accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and budgets. You will assume responsibility for Australian finance and work closely with the Managing Director advising on strategy and Australian expansion.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the Australian business and provide insight into Company strategy
- Create Australian budget and forecasting as required by Managing Director
- Promote the business interests of Australian offices, whilst keeping within Australian guidelines and legislation
- Responsible for consolidation and Australian audit, including working closely with internal and external advisors to ensure full compliance and timely tax and statutory filings.
- Responsible for ensuring alignment with the Global Finance teams. Working closely with the Global CFO and ensuring best global financial practice.
- Responsible for reporting back to US finance team on a regular basis, as required as the key point of contact for Australia
- Coordinate corporate finance and manage Company policies including overall responsibility for treasury management
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate the annual budget and monthly re-forecasts process
- Work closely with other departments to help plan and manage budgets throughout the year
- Produce timely, accurate monthly management accounts
- Maintain and improve systems and processes within the team and the Company to ensure strong and appropriate levels of financial control and risk management.
- Ensure all accounts payable, receivable, expenses, fraud and payroll systems are operating effectively and in line with Company requirements.
- Manage the Companyโs treasury function, assessing implications of business transactions and manage banking relationships with our advisors and partners as required.
- Monitor cashflow, always ensuring there are enough funds for anticipated payments
- Ensure compliance with all relevant external reporting requirements and timetables including Corporation Tax, GST, and statutory accounting.
- Contribute fully to the development of the Company strategy across all areas of the European business, challenging assumptions, and decision-making as appropriate
- Manage the monthly payroll process to ensure that everyone is paid accurately and on time.
- Travel as may be required by the business
Skills and Experience weโre seeking
- CPA, ACA or CIMA qualified โ at least 5 years post qualified
- Excellent strategic and analytical thinking
- Evidence of leading and managing a team
- Evidence of operating at both strategic and operational levels
- Advanced skills in Excel
- Ability to form close working relationships with senior management
- Self-motivated and ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making
- Ability to work with multiple currencies and cultures across Australia
- Experience within fast paced growing SME desirable
- Experience with JD Edwards desirable
- Business-level Japanese fluency strongly preferred
