Finance Projects Intern

*Hiring for Summer 2024*

SPS Commerce Finance department is looking for an undergraduate or graduate student to contribute to finance projects within areas such as financial analysis, financial reporting, and internal controls. The internship will give exposure to multiple teams and disciplines within finance during the 12-week internship. The internship program will provide the student with relevant skills in a variety of finance functions via on-the-job training.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for leading a process improvement initiative related to reports used for financial reporting
• Collaborate with finance stakeholders across the organization to enhance reporting capabilities and efficiency
• Team with international stakeholders to perform analysis of compensation and benefits data and improve reporting
• Support the overall Finance team data strategy by using Power BI and other tools to help gather, consolidate and report on key financial data
• Lead a finance project which will be presented to Finance and SPS leadership
• Other items as assigned

• Available to work 40 hours per week

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Tactfully interact and communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Confidence in financial and analytical skills, and problem solving
• Ability to provide succinct actionable summaries for supervisor review
• Solid understanding of core financial concepts related to income statements and the balance sheet
• Demonstrative behaviors around integrity, confidentiality, accuracy, curiosity, self-driven initiative, collaboration, relationship building, and internal/external customer engagement
• Must be available to work June 3rd, 2024 through August 23rd, 2024 and be a commutable distance from Minneapolis, MN. This is a hybrid role and the team will meet on-site in Minneapolis on a weekly basis
• Ability to evaluate reports and spreadsheets
• Preferred: Effective Researcher and ability to interpret information available on the internet

Experience / Education

• Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program with a major in Finance, Accounting, or Business-related field
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
