Direct reports: 3 to 5 [incl. HR]

Overview:

One of the fastest growing online publishers in South Africa is looking for a CA(SA) to join their team as Finance Manager.

The successful candidate will form part of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Finance and Operations Director and play a critical role managing the finance function and supporting the board of directors to achieve the company's financial objectives. The successful candidate has strong knowledge of all accounting, financial and business principles, is trustworthy and a natural leader.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the accounting & finance function for the group, consisting of three companies (growing);
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting;
• Oversee monthly management accounts and board pack preparation;
• Review and improve standard operating procedures / internal controls within the finance function;
• Oversee the HR function of the business, with a focus on building and maintaining strong systems;
• Generating reports & analysis to assist in decision making;
• Actively contribute to strategic discussions on the company's strategy and performance to drive better decisions in support of accelerated growth;
• Preparation of budgets and forecasts;
• Oversee the annual audit/review;
• Review of VAT and PAYE submissions;
• Review of tax and provisional tax calculations;
• Review of payroll;
• Review of weekly payments;
• Calculation and submission of research and development claims;
• B-BBEE compliance;
• Manage accounting and payroll software and integrations;
• Manage banking relationships, cash management and other treasury related activities;
• Other ad-hoc related duties.

Requirements:

• CA (SA)
• 5+ years experience in a similar role
• Publishing experience would be advantageous
