Primary Duties
The Finance Manager, Consolidations will provide finance support related to planning and analysis of the consolidated results as well as specific departments. Also, will assist in budget and reporting system ownership. Reporting to the FP&A Consolidation and Projects Lead ("Lead") the position will be an effective analyst supporting the FP&A team as well as Accounting & Procurement. This position will offer support and be responsible to gather critical data points that will allow for effective planning, reporting, and financial analyses. This role will also be involved in ad hoc projects that support driving the organization towards optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
Key duties will include:
- Support the FP&A team, by being a point of contact and assisting them in supporting their business partners.
- Assist in preparation of monthly reporting package including supporting analyses and variance analyses, which is presented by Head of Finance to Corporate Management Team.
- Ability to identify key business drivers and foresee operational issues.
- Ability to work with individuals at various levels of the organization in financial planning processes, including the annual budget and latest estimate exercises.
- Preparation of monthly accruals and journal entries, where applicable
- Ownership & administration of the Budgeting & Reporting System, including user access list, training new users, running report, importing data into the system.
- Working directly with the vendor for the Budgeting & Reporting system to create new custom reports or modify existing reports to reflect current business structure and reporting priorities.
- Assisting Lead in Comp & Benefits forecasting within Budgeting system & analysis of results
- Managing the Overhead budgets including preparation and analysis of results
- Provide operational and finance support to other Finance areas such as Accounting, A/P & Procurement
- Complete ad hoc projects and analyses
- Contribute to the Spark Finance function
Responsibilities
Assist FP&A team in support of their business partners in the creation and development of the financial portion of key company processes i.e. Annual Budget, Latest Estimates and Long Range Planning.
Assist in monthly Close / Financial Reporting Package:
- Update standard schedules and prepare supplemental schedules, as needed
- Work with Finance business partners to identify and explain budget vs actual variances
- Asset Reporting
- Preparation of monthly accruals and journal entries
- Review of monthly entries for proper coding
Administration of Budgeting & Reporting system
- User Access list / New User Training
- Custom Reports (new and modifications)
- Updating for Reorganizations
- Importing budget and latest estimate forecasts into the system
- Comp & benefits forecasting
- Documentation of processes
Manage Overhead Department Budgets
- Work with Finance and business personnel to develop annual budgets & latest estimates
- Investigate material budget vs actual variances on a monthly basis
Provide operational and finance support to other Finance areas such as Accounting, A/P & Procurement
Assist finance management on ad hoc projects as needed
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred (or working towards it)
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant financial experience; preferably in public accounting and/or the biopharmaceutical industry
- Ability to quickly learn automated tools/technology for budget preparation, consolidation, and financial reporting.
