SUMMARY

The Financial Advisor provides financial planning services and when appropriate recommend investment or insurance products to BECU members and customers. The Financial Advisor handles planning situations routine to highly complex, preparing and delivering a comprehensive plan that may include portfolio reviews, analysis and assessments, and pre- or post-retirement planning and asset allocation strategies. The Financial Advisor engages with members after receiving referrals from the Neighborhood Financial Center, developing new client relationships and managing existing relationships. The Financial Advisor is held to the highest standards of commercial honor under the FINRA Rules of Fair Practice when dealing with members or customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
  • Provide financial planning and investment advice from routine to highly complex.
  • Maintain client portfolios and meet individual production goals.
  • Determine and document the suitability of investment recommendations and a member's tolerance to investment risk.
  • Implement an effective Sales & Marketing program to develop new business. Network with assigned ESC branches to promote, educate and increase awareness of services.
  • Provide excellent member service, consistent with BECU and BECU Investment Services objectives. Service existing clients and conduct periodic reviews.
  • Maintain client records that meet the standards of the federal and state regulatory agencies, as well as following the written policies and procedures of the broker/dealer and BECUIS.
  • Obtain OSJ approval on all communications with the public as defined in sections 2200 of FINRA manual.
  • Distribute valid prospectus materials when discussing offers to sell any product registered as a security with the SEC.
  • Participate in and facilitate the ongoing consumer education and employee training sessions.
  • Collect and report information about the operation of the advisor's business.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all regulations that affect Financial Planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, or equivalent work or educational experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a financial or investment advisor required. Experience in a financial institution preferred.
  • Series 7 plus 63 &65 or 66 securities licensing required. Washington Life, Health and Disability Insurance License required.
  • Proficient verbal and written skills required to effectively communicate in the English language.
  • Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
  • Moderate travel by car and/or public conveyance for trips at some out of area locations, statewide, or overseas.
