Job Description
Position Summary:
The Financial Analyst will support the Finance department by preparing and analyzing financial plans, forecasts, and reports. The Financial Analyst will provide timely and accurate financial information with regard to strategic initiatives and financial issues. This role also includes analyzing business data to identify trends and determine areas of focus. The Financial Analyst will provide accurate and data based information on the company’s profitability, solvency, stability and liquidity. The individual will research and analyze financial information to help the company make well informed decisions, write reports and monitor financial movements.
The individual in this position must be energetic, independent, confident and able to work in a fast paced and flexible environment. This person will be hands on, passionate and able to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions:
Financial Statements: Assists in preparation and distribution of financial statements in a timely and accurate manner. Assists with preparation and analysis of account reconciliations. Assures availability of timely and well-presented, high-quality actual P & L, balance sheet, and sales detail results versus budget and prior year as well as trended information.
Financial Analysis: Consolidate and analyze financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts, cash flow statements, etc.) taking into account company’s goals and financial standing. Tracks and determines financial status by monitoring, comparing, and analyzing variances from budget and forecasts with actual results. Identifies trends and recommends actions. Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance. Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data.
Develops financial models, to support function objectives and projects. Services as the Finance lead on all special projects. Understands and applies complex concepts. Identify risks, proposes recommendations and solutions to issues. Implements solutions for problem resolution. Completes a wide range of financial services and deliverables. Assesses reasonableness and relevance of financials assumptions.Â
Reporting: Prepares spreadsheets, charts and graphs to illustrate financial reports. This includes prior, current and projected revenues and expenditures to provide a basis for comparison and evaluation. Assembles and summarizes data, presents findings, analysis, and recommendations. Manages the monthly financial close process including identifying and resolving discrepancies in actual transactions versus planned activity.
Provides fiscal, technical and organizational advice to representatives of various departments regarding projected programs and objectives according to established budgetary procedures. Provides timely, relevant, and accurate reporting and analysis of the results of organization’s performance against historical, budgeted, forecasted and strategic planning results to facilitate decision-making toward the achievement of the budget and strategic plan. Increases productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools. Develops and maintains monthly KPI reporting.Â
Forecasting/Budgeting: Plans and carries out budget and forecast procedures including monthly monitoring of department expenditures and revenues and communicates monthly, quarterly and annual status to executive team. Assists in the preparation of budgets and budget materials; reviews and makes recommendations on budget proposals; assists in the development of multi-year forecast estimates for expenditures and revenues; reviews performance measures. Develops and maintains budget monitoring models and coordinates production of the formal monitoring report.
Applies fundamental fiscal concepts, prepares written and oral budgetary recommendations for implementation in departmental budgets. Prepares short and long range budgetary projections utilizing economic forecasting and financial analytic techniques to assess the impact of budget changes. Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, providing trends and forecasts. Conducts business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop forecast models.
Other Duties as Assigned: Responds with flexibility and collaboration to the needs of the business – both internally and externally – by addressing important corporate initiatives when requested by management.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other analytical field
Experience and/or training:
Minimum of five years related experience in financial analysis, business administration, general accounting, cost accounting, economic analysis, or systems analysis. Well informed in current financial subjects, tax laws, and business principles.
Technology/Equipment Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with data query/data management tools extremely helpful.
Excellent analytical skills
Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills required
Prefer someone who has budget, forecasting, and variance experience
Experience with ERP systems preferred
Experience with Business Objects helpful
