Job Description

Discovery Education is looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team.

As Financial Analyst (FP&A) you will play an integral role in implementing effective finance and budget strategies across our company. You will assist in the monthly analysis of the company's financial results, work with the financial models that generate budgets, and long-range plans, and is responsible for the business planning and analytical support behind the sales and operations of the company.

This is a hybrid role based at our headquarters in Charlotte, NC. You will work 2-3 days onsite and the remainder remotely. In this role, you will report to our Manager of FP&A.

The ideal person for this role has strong organizational skills, is extremely detail-oriented, and takes full ownership over the delivery of a consistently superior work product. He/she has clear verbal and written communication skills, is quick-thinking, adaptable to change, and values working together as one team. Working proactively, independently, and reliably in a fast-paced environment, this individual will work directly with business leaders to understand their results and manage their budgets.

What you will do:

  • Create accurate financial reports and analysis to support presentations to the Board and other stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic connection between finance and our Social Impact Group and our Corporate business unit to drive intelligent business decisions around significant spending initiatives.
  • Lead the forecasting of Revenue, Billings, and Expenses across various product streams.
  • Prepare detailed analyses and presentations on various financial and strategic issues.
  • Drive business goals, supporting cost optimization initiatives, working capital management, and return on capital by ensuring they are adequately measured, managed, and reported.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports and analysis to support presentations to the Board and other outside stakeholders.
  • Ad hoc financial reporting projects.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of professional level financial planning experience.
  • Strong excel and modeling skills required.
  • Experience with forecasting systems (experience with CCH Tagetik forecasting software a plus).
  • Working knowledge of general accounting including subscription revenue recognition and delivery accounting.
  • Organize work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines, Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Innovative thinking with a desire to improve processes by leveraging technology to drive efficiencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting required; an MBA or equivalent, CFA, or CPA a plus.
  • Can accommodate up to 10% of travel.
