Primary Function Overview:
Reporting directly to the Long Branch Business Controller, the Accountant performs professional accounting work for the Finance team in Long Branch, NJ. In this role they will work closely with the finance team to complete daily and monthly tasks as well as ad-hoc analysis, as well as with the Sales team on reporting Sales & Intake. Applies accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions. Specifics of job content will vary from preparing journal entries, checking supporting entries, carrying out well-defined steps in cost accounting analysis, monthly closing activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and other general accounting activities.
In this function you will:
- Assist in month end closings; prepare journal entries, variance analysis, and various financial reports
- Timely and accurate preparation of balance sheet reconciliations with supporting schedules for balances. Includes completing research on monthly transactions and changes within accounts while ensuring all US GAAP and SOX compliance requirements are met
- Provide the sales team with Intake and Sales reports
- Maintain the Pricing levels and tracks Sales Incentive payments
- Accounts Receivable - Assist shared service team in obtaining payment information for overdue accounts and monitor DSO
- Accounts Payable - Process non-po invoices for approval and payment
- Prepare monthly freight expense analysis
- Prepare a variety of reasonably standard, periodic or end reports, such as cost reports, profit-and-loss statements
- Assist in maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement and actively contribute to the team effort for accomplishing department goals

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics from an accredited institution
- Minimum 2 years of financial experience
- Must be authorized to work in the US without corporate sponsorship now or in the future
- No relocation offered. Only candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of Long Branch, NJ will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with SAP
- Experience of best practice implementation/end to end process improvement in accounting & reporting
- Previous accounting/finance internship or work experience a plus
- Knowledge of US GAAP; exposure to Sarbanes Oxley
Position Criteria:
- Intermediate-to-advanced skills in various analysis tools, such as MS Excel
- Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, changing environment
