Financial Analyst

Sol Systems is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to join our team. The analyst will provide support for our Development team focusing on M&A. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in renewable energy development and investments as well as exposure to a robust portfolio of energy assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project valuation and Excel based quantitative modeling

Responsible for responding to requests for bids for utility-scale solar generating facilities. This will involve performing initial project diligence with respect to vetting expected capital expenditure, electricity production, revenue drivers, ongoing operating expenses, etc. Responsible for building, maintaining, and operating complex financial models which will be utilized to determine Fair Market Value for project acquisition, and will help the team in bringing target solar facilities to term sheet and, ultimately, final acquisition.  

• Market research

Perform research on new markets from a policy and commercial standpoint. Monitor state legislative movement, project interconnection queues, etc. Will also be responsible for improving and operating analytical models for forecasting pricing for electricity, capacity, and other energy attributes. Maintain an eye on macro-economic trends with an eye toward energy markets, particularly as they relate to the renewables space. 

• Commercial negotiation of project acquisition documents and/or project financing documents, as needed 

Support commercial negotiations with solar project developers and third-party counsel Sol Systems engages to accommodate project acquisition. This may include leading negotiations and exchanging diligence materials with legal counsel, technical advisors, market consultants, various equity and financing partners, and other parties typically involved in diligence, financing and closing solar projects. May also be drawn into earlier-stage discussions with project developers to perform initial diligence/valuation work in bringing acquisition targets to close. 

• Preparation of sales collateral, as needed

Develop marketing collateral which supports Sol Systems’ efforts in originating capital. Will also be responsible for developing materials that will facilitate Sol Systems’ project originations efforts. Represent Sol Systems at industry conferences to meet with stakeholders and originate developer relationships.

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or related field is required.  
• 3+ years of experience required. 
• Excel and financial modeling
• Strong interest to develop a career in the solar industry 
• Highly organized individual 
• Creative problem solver  

Location & Hours: This is a full-time role and will be based in our Washington, DC office. We offer a hybrid work schedule with an opportunity to work remotely three days per week.
