Financial Analyst

Job Description:

This role reports to and works directly with the Controller of the McLean Corporate Office to support the Long Term Incentive reporting and analysis. In addition, this Associate will be responsible for performing several key period end close and other ad-hoc accounting tasks for all corporate ledgers (MVA corporate, Mars Wind, Mars Carbon, Effem ReInsurance Company and CG Realty).

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, 0-3 yrs of accounting or finance experience
• To be successful in this role, high degree of self-direction and great attention to detail is required.
• The team operates in a dynamic environment requiring strong planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
• Need strong analytical skills to be able to process high volumes of information quickly and tease out relevant components
• Strong Excel skills are required to be successful in this role. Knowledge of/expertise in other digital tools such as Alteryx, Power BI etc. are highly desired. Able to pick up and learn new systems and be comfortable within a short timeframe.
• The role involves working closely with offshore teams and numerous other stakeholders and requires a high degree of collaboration to maintain relationships and proactively manage expectations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• LTI administration - running Long Term Incentive plan reports using Alteryx workflows to distribute across Mars. Reviewing and analysing LTI expense for reasonableness and to identify drivers of flux for management.
• Participate in accounting period close and perform several key close activities (e.g., accruals/manual journal entry preparation, reconciliation review, assist in flux analysis, prepare quarterly reporting deliverables)
• Support the corporate accounting/finance team in other tasks and analyses as they arise (e.g., transaction/acquisition costs review, evaluating construction costs incurred for appropriate capitalize/expense treatment, preparing support for tax audits as requested by the Tax controversy team) and other ad-hoc tasks
