Financial Analyst

Garda has an opening in our Wayzata office for a Financial Analyst supporting both the operations/valuation and accounting/reporting functions.  Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform daily reconciliations of profit and loss, positions and cash for the Garda funds.  Work with the fund administrator, the senior financial analysts and trading team to identify and resolve any differences.
• Review daily trade reporting, including unconfirmed trades and failed trades.
• Establish and maintain a working relationship with the administrator to ensure efficient daily and month end processes and strong controls. 
• Assist the senior financial analysts with process improvements and system automations (e.g. set-up of new reconciliations). 
• Perform a review of the monthly price pack and audit reports, as prepared by the administrator.
• Participate in the preparation of Valuation Committee materials.
• Assist in day-to-day problem-solving issues, highlighting outstanding or significant issues to senior staff and/or management as necessary.
• Ensure procedures are well documented.
• Participate in the review of the monthly unaudited and annual audited financial statements.  Assist in the implementation of new accounting policies/standards in addition to monitoring the adherence to existing accounting policies.
• Obtain appropriate signoffs of fund invoices, as per Garda’s cash policy/accounts payable policy.  Track invoices, allocation methods and other pertinent data ensuring adherence to the expense policy & fund documents.
• Prepare ad-hoc reporting or analytical deliverables requested by senior staff/management.
• Participate in preparation of investor due diligence materials.
• Provide projected AUM and fee predictions.

• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high-energy, time sensitive team environment
• Ability to effectively communicate across functions and to various levels of management
• Up to ten years of financial markets experience, preferably at an asset manager or fund administrator
• Familiarity with various security types including fixed income, commodities, equities and their derivative products
• Fluency with numbers, and attention to detail
• Knowledge of Orchestrade, Duco and MarkitWire is a plus
• 4-year degree in accounting or finance
