Financial Analyst, Booking & Reporting

Reporting into the Director of Financial Analysis & Reporting for Actuarial Reserving, this key role will be part of the booking/financial reporting team. The Sr. Finance Reporting Consultant will participate in the monthly P&C Loss IBNR and LAE reserve booking. This position also supports GAAP and Statutory reporting on both a quarterly and annual basis. The position partners with teams across Finance and Actuarial Reserving and participates in projects as needed.
*This can be a 100% Remote opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the monthly close process of calculating and reporting Loss IBNR and LAE reserves, including:
- Prepare exhibits
- Perform SOX controls
- Prepare manual adjustments
- Analyze change in Loss/ALAE reserves by cause of loss
- Act as liaison with Finance for close activities
- Participate in quarterly and annual activities including:
- Prepare exhibits for 10Q/K and Annual Statement reporting and disclosures
- Paid and incurred variance reporting
- Participate in or lead special projects when necessary
- Field questions from business partners, State of CT auditors, and internal/external auditors
- Obtain thorough understanding of the Loss IBNR and LAE subledger
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree; degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
- 5-7+ years' experience in insurance accounting; GAAP or Statutory financial reporting a plus
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong data analysis skills
- Ability to notice small details and produce high quality results
- Ability to identify areas for process improvement
- Critical thinker with proven problem solving skills
- Ability to see the "big picture"
- Ability to build effective working relationships with individuals across Finance and Actuarial
- Knowledge of Enterprise General Ledger, PeopleSoft, TM1 or Access a plus
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$92,240 - $138,360
