Job Overview
This position functions as a key liaison between Finance and Project Management. This professional will lead the use of costing data to identify areas of potential margin improvement.
A Day In The Life
- Lead the project review process, with a goal of identifying areas of cost savings, process improvements, and change-order opportunities
- Develop and continuously improve processes, tools and metrics to track and analyze operational performance
- Communicate key trends and insights to estimating, manufacturing/PMs, and the management team
- Develop recommendations for process improvements and real-time interventions based on data analytics
- Track project-level performance and produce reports to aid in decision making
- Identify bid and production issues as they arise, and communicate the issues to the relevant department heads or project managers
- Compare actual project results to bid-basis and estimated results; facilitate feedback mechanisms among pricing, estimating and production
- Track broad trends across projects (e.g., materials cost changes, production challenges/bottlenecks, etc.) and communicate as needed to relevant teams
- Function as key link among Engineering, Pricing, Accounting, and FP&A
- Be a go-to person across the organization for people trying to understand costs and how operating activities translate into results
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Project Managers to
- Identify project management process improvements and track implementation
- Provide analysis on BOM variances and guidance on inventory or purchasing improvements as a result thereof
- Collaborate closely with the CFO and the FP&A Director to:
- Report and present project performance, including for MBR/QBR business review presentations
- Effectively communicate, across the organization, results and insights relating to operational performance
- Develop innovative financial models to guide decision making on pricing and operational initiatives

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or a related field
- 2 to 4 years of cost accounting or finance-related experience
- Strong business analysis skills
- Advanced skills in Excel and Power Point and proficiency with BI tools
- Results-oriented, with a strong desire to continuously improve and drive results
- Outstanding analytic and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, presentation, collaboration and interpersonal skills
