JOB SUMMARY:

The Financial Business Analyst position is a hybrid role within the Product Management department. While there will be a focus on understanding our billing operations and making recommendations to improve efficiency, the Business Analyst will also be required to create user stories, prioritize the engineering backlog, and ensure that all planned work is complementary to the SD Product strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate strategic direction to the development team and stakeholders throughout projects, identifying areas for process improvements and encouraging best practices with the Product and Engineering teams.
  • Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product, ensuring that the development team always has an adequate amount of ready work
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories
  • In coordination with Product Managers and Business Owners, assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Lead the planning product release plans and set the expectation for delivery of new functionalities mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals as needed
  • Research and analyze market, the users, and the roadmap for the product following competitors and the industry

To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner and should demonstrate all competencies listed above. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • Experience with billing and financial systems as well financial reporting
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of creativity and latitude in order to meet and accomplish goals.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends and ability to stay abreast of updates
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex business documents or concepts.
  • High degree of time management is essential.
  • Strong technical aptitude and business acumen as well as a great sense of assuredness and poise.
  • Proficient with general office software including but not limited to; Microsoft Office Suite and Project including SharePoint, and the ability to adapt to a variety of other software databases.
  • Must be able to perform independently and in a team environment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline. Preferably a business degree.
  • Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or related role required
  • Aviation, SATCOM and/or telecommunications experience strongly preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening and reading, able to lift light objects (< 25lbs), and use standard office equipment such as computer, printer, phone and cell phone. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop in order to open/close cabinets, reach for files or other standard office type objects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The office environment is generally quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to others talking or laughing loudly, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their particular duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company/department needs, project requirements or customer demands. Some overnight travel is required to facilitate work objectives. While at client site locations, if applicable, employee will be required to adhere to the proper safety precautions established by the client while in proximity to their work area, flight-line or maintenance repair center; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment. The temperature at client locations can vary from controlled to variations off hot/cold when working, standing or walking in or near the flight-line or maintenance repair center.

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $75,000-$80,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. SD also offers a variety of benefits including: health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, experience level and location.
